Okay enough reading, time for watching! Prime those puckers!!
As you can tell, I am all about my new hot pink lip color! It’s from a new brand based in Brooklyn that I was just introduced a few weeks ago at the DBA gifting suite at NYFW. It goes on awesome and I’m in love with a few other things from the brand so check out their site, love their whole aesthetic.
Calling all petite fashionistas! Do you hate jean shopping? Are all the fabulous styles too long? Does it drive you insane?!?! Okay, clearly I’m not a fan of this and run into this problem way too often. But, when I get something new I want to wear it now, like right now! I can’t help it. So here a few little tricks I personally do all the time!
Hello and happy Friday! It’s NYFW!!! Every season my inbox gets a few more invites than the season before, so I’m pretty bummed I didn’t block out time on my schedule to attend all the fun stuff, but I’m just thankful to be invited!
Life’s been busy, yet fabulous! And, you may notice that this is my second video with LuLu*s. Well, it’s going to be an on-going thing. I’m beyond excited, seeing as it’s literally one of my favorite shopping destinations! I feature them all the time in my TV segments and it’s because they carry all the top trends on a budget. I feel like LuLu*s was made for me … and I’m not just saying that.
This vid is pretty fitting for the season. Like I said, it’s FASHION WEEK! We’re all trying to keep up with the Jones’ of fashion. And even though this week is all about the following season, style peeps are dressed to impress with the latest spring trends. So, we made this quick vid to showcase a few of my favorite spring styles with the chilly temps in mind. So, do wear pastel, but don’t wear flip flops (I literally saw a girl wearing flip flops the other day and it was snowing out… seriously??). Okay, that being said, in look 3 I’m barefoot. To be fair, I thought my feet weren’t in the shot.
Today I’m in NYC for the IFBCon!! So, I enlisted my Philly FABB sis and new blog friend Jade to take over Trend Hungry for the day. She’s got great eclectic style and knows how to keep it cheap and chic. Plus she loves thrifting – love that!! Oh, and if you’re a Philly girl, like me and Jade, check out these 5 vintage hot spots I scouted out for Philly.com. Okay, without further adieu, I bring you THE Style Wallflower! – Jessie
Hello everyone! My name is Jade Barnes and I am a lifestyle public relations specialist by day & the Style Wallflowerby night. I enjoy writing about celebrity style, current trends and local Philadelphia fashion events. I am very excited to share my “ball on a budget” shopping tips with the Trend Hungry Community. Now let’s get to saving.
Research your local thrift stores. I used to live in Society Hill and near adorable vintage boutiques on Fabric Row and Passyunk Ave. Two of my favorite stores included Philly AIDS Thrift and Retrospect. I was able to find gorgeous sequined tunics and silk shirts for a fraction of what the retail price would have been. Vintage finds are always my favorite!
Don’t buy only for the sale. Just because the sale is $9.99 doesn’t mean buy before you try: Zara is having a major sale right now and I must have walked into the fitting room with at least six items, but left with half of them. Trying on pieces that have slashed price tags will help you see if you REALLY need these items and if they fit you properly. I left Zara with black and white blouses appropriate for work and on trend for Spring 2013. I felt happy to be on trend and happy to have only spent $25 on three items! Continue Reading
Face it- it’s undeniably that awkward time of the year we all hate where you can’t decide whether you’re always sluggish because of the weather changing or your personal diagnosis of seasonal depression. Either way, take a break from your everyday stresses and ride shotgun into the holiday season…in comfort of course!
Your weekends may already be packed with sport games and holiday preparations. So, kill two birds with one stone and rep your team in style. Beyonce, Rihanna, and 2NE1 surely aren’t afraid of embracing their sporty side by boldly mixing athletic jerseys with a simple baseball cap or designer sweatpants. Continue Reading
Hello, and welcome to another episode of Trend Hungry’s Trend Bite! This week, we felt it was time to conquer styling some red skinny jeans. This color-popping style isn’t going anywhere and red is one of the hottest hues for colored denim. Have fun with your fashion and play dress up. That’s what we did. Here are seven looks using the same red skinnies. Hope this inspires you to rework the wardrobe you already have!
Hey Fashionistas! We know Sandy has got ya down. Those of us in her reach probably have a serious case of cabin fever and we’re ready to get out. It may be too wet and dangerous (depending on your location) but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up. Here are three Halloween-themed blog posts by the Trend Hungry team.
In need of a quick costume? “Gangnam Style” is easy, fun, and very topical. Bonus: that blazer is on trend and will get more wear than just on Halloween! Or try this DIY on for size and become “Call Me Maybe”. These two music-inspired costumes are perfect for a last-minute look for Halloween!
Incase you’ve been living under a rock for the past couple of months, Korean pop is slowly but surely taking over the American airwaves. Next year, you won’t be able to talk about 2012 without mentioning binders full of women, Honey Boo Boo, or Gangnam Style! Every lady’s Halloween costume needs the right combination of sex appeal, sophistication, and creativity. And Psy’s style encompasses all of these major necessities. Which brings me to my next point: be the topic of conversation at any and every Halloween party. Try on this trendsetter costume and be the king of K POP- Psy.
Try a blue blazer for the classic Psy look. Or stand out from the crown and roll with a pink blazer. The items in this outfit are distinct, classy, and will definitely give you more wear after the Halloween season. The key elements in making this costume stellar are the glasses, the bow tie, and the blazer. Continue Reading
It’s Sunday, let’s reflect. This past year has been pretty incredible. The blog has helped me land national TV segments, exposure in The Wall Street Journal, and even getting a job blogging for Simon Malls as The King of Prussia Style Setter – I’m on signs all over the mall – cray cray! Through this journey I’ve gotten to host in-store events, fashion shows, and videos with eHow. But after watching this video from big-time blogger Gala Darling at the NEPA Blog Con, I realized that my about page said none of this. Instead, it said that I eat a lot of pasta (cooking meat grosses me out – but I do eat it) and other unrelated info. This video kicked my butt in gear and I rewrote the ABOUT, but plan on tweaking it more. Bloggers, watch her video. It’s totally free and I learned a ton in those twenty minutes. Also, check out my new ABOUT and let me in on your thoughts.
I was also a speaker at the NEPA Blog Con and gave a presentation on content strategy with Shannon from A Girl’s Gotta Spa. It was great to be able to share my insight (hope you watch!), but now I’m looking for your advice. Continue Reading
OMG! I can’t even believe it! Two years ago today I stopped procrastinating and started Trend Hungry. This baby has come a long way, and it truly is my baby. Blogs take lots of time, attention, care, attention to detail, and there were a lot of times where I wasn’t sure of what I was doing. Like with anything new, it is a learning experience and wow have I learned a lot! I’m paying my blog love forward. Here are 10 bites of blog wisdom I’ve gotten from my two-year journey.
1. Don’t Compare Yourself. Jealously is ugly (not stylish!) so don’t stalk other bloggers and wonder why you’re not getting to pose in an ad campaign or aren’t quoted in a magazine. It’s not a race, so focus on you and be happy with your opportunities.
2. Do Better Yourself. Don’t feel crappy when seeing that your daily reads got to travel to Europe to attend runway shows. Instead, look at their site (and other top blogs) and see what they have in common. Continue Reading
