{ My Latest QVC Blog } 4 Spring Style Tips + Sneak Peeks

Jessie Holeva QVC blog

Okay, it’s official. Spring is in the building, I mean outside, though it so does not feel that way today. That’s the thing about spring — it likes to throw ya for a loop and switch up the temps … and often.

Ready to infuse spring into your style? I did say it’s official, so now is the time. I recently visited the LOGO by Lori Goldstein styling studio to check out what’s coming up, test out some new favorite fashions, and get some spring styling inspiration.

I fell in love fast with this cool take on loungewear. I mean, it’s ombrè! It was basically calling my name… as were lots of other beautiful pieces. So we ventured outside to shoot some more pics. Then I blogged it up with spring styling tips. And now you can check it out over on the QVC blog.

I’ll be sharing my style perspective every month or so on the QVC blog so be sure to look for more posts by me, usually at the top of the month. Style tips + products details await on the QVC blog.

{ Dare To Wear } Kimono + Double Denim

How to wear a kimono

Like my kimono? It’s from one of my favorite people. My dear friend Kristen sent it to me all the way from Hawaii. Though she and I don’t like close to each other anymore (she’s based in LA but lived a few months in Hawaii earlier this year), but we still manage to swap clothes when we do get together, though this one was meant for me to keep. It came in the mail along with a cool coral necklace she made me, a bottle of black sand, a hair product made by a friend she met while living there, and of course a thoughtful note — she’s the cutest + I absolutely LOVED the care package she sent me!! So when I wear this kimono I think of my boho babe, Kristen. { Interview } Tips On Fashion, Blogging & Dream Chasing

It’s getting to that point where people stop saying Happy New Year, but we’re not quite there so let me say it once more, Happy New Year! You may notice things look a little different around here. Sometimes I get the itch for change and nothing can stop me. When I was a kid I’d rearrange the furniture in my bedroom and pretty much every other room in the house. My parents would come home or wake up and be like, ” when did you do this?” I do this at my place now, remix my wardrobe and how I do my makeup, and so the blog sometimes also needs an impromptu upgrade. It wasn’t really impromptu. It was planned but happened sooner than scheduled.

Speaking of sooner than planned, the creation of this blog happened in a similar fashion. SkinnyAffair.com recently asked me about how the blog came about, my tips to aspiring bloggers, what’s in my bag and more. It was a lot of fun answering the interviewer’s questions as SA is the blog of Melissa Funtanilla, who recently celebrated her first year blogging at Trend Hungry!

I did the interview a little while ago so it was cool to go back and read it. It’s reminded me of two things that have been important in my journey and I’d like to be mindful of this year.

{Dare To Wear} Black & Flannel

Ever find yourself in an all-black ensemble?

{Style Tips}

1. Break up boring black by adding an outer layer of flannel. It’s far more casual than a blazer, making your all-black ensemble feel more casual and day time.

2. Keep a beanie in your bag for when the wind or a bad-hair day hits. Plus they look cool on.  and also make you look cool.

3. Boot up. Cover those legs in cool temps with a high boot over opaque tights in the same color. This will keep legs looking long while protecting from the elements.

{Steal Of The Week} Francesca’s Dresses + BOGO Sale

Francesca’s is becoming more and more of a go-to shopping spot for me — probably due to the skinny-budget pricing and trendy styles. A few days ago I stopped by their King of Prussia location while styling client for her alma mater homecoming event and noticed they were running a BOGO special, buy one get one half off.

So what to buy? I love this place for girlfriend gifts (make a mental note for holiday shopping) and affordable dresses. Dresses that can go from work to happy hour at a price that keeps you happy can be tough to find, but this store hasn’t disappointed me yet.

As for my client, she left with two dresses and accessories to match!

On to the dresses.

{Sweater Style}

{Quinn Solid Sweater Dress, $48.00} So comfy looking, I can’t ever take it! I need the emoticon with heart eyes right now. Top with a wide-brmmed hat for a street-chic look.

{Purple Paisley}

{Alamea Printed Shift Dress, $48.00} Free-spirited, yet work appropriate. Try with hair pulled back, dramatic eye makeup, black tights and booties for date night.

{Fine Print}

{Olivia Midi Sweater Dress, $58.00}  Top with a blazer for a business meeting and toss on some sparkly earrings for after hours.

{Pretty In Pink}

{Anella Lace Dress, $58.00} If you’re looking for a girly party dress, here it is. Save for a birthday or other occasion where you want the spotlight. Werk it, girl!

{Money-Saving Tip}

Buying a lot? Break it up in to multiple transactions. When you checkout with many items at once the discount will be on the cheapest items. Keep more money in your wallet by pairing items closest in price together for checkout. It may take a few more minutes at the register but is worth the serious savings.

Have you shopped Francesca’s before? Do any of these dresses call your name? Do tell in the comments below!

{Dare To Wear} Mixed Metals

It’s already week three of maxi-skirt styling and I’m even more in love with this skirt. In fact, maxis in general are becoming more near and dear to my heart. They’re far more comfortable than jeans and look more polished too. I’m sensing a maxi-skirt roundup post coming up.

I wore this outfit yesterday and  it got me through answering emails, blogging, a mini photoshoot, and a styling session — comfy enough for a busy day and stylish enough that I look the part.

{Style Tips}

1. Motorcycle jackets add edge to any outfit. It’s the off-duty blazer.

2. Not sure how to wear vintage jewelry? Layer with your everyday pieces, such as a watch and your other go-to layering bracelets. Mixing it in with your existing style only makes it more you-nique.

3. Mix warm and cool tones. The skirt, top, and bag are on the warm side, as is the gold bracelet. The jacket, boots, and vintage statement necklace would be considered cool. They work together because they are intermixed and create balance. This tip works for jewelry, clothing, even home decor.

{Dare to Wear} Harem Pants While Chillin

jessie holeva

We should all play dress up more often. Push yourself to experiment with what’s already in your closet and you may be surprised with all the awesome ideas you come up with. You’ll also then have a better idea of what key pieces are missing so that your next shopping trip won’t be in vain.

Coming up with outfits for TV segments, clients, and these Dare to Wear posts really break me out of my fashion box.

I have been having so much fun doing blog shoots lately. It’s helping me expand what my wardrobe can do and if you take a look at past posts, you’ll see that the style of the shoots has been evolving too. This month we shot on a deck and last month the outside of a pretty apartment complex on the Main Line acted as the backdrop. Hmm. I wonder what the next shoot will bring.

You may remember  that this month’s Dare to Wear item is the charity tank top. And you may remember that proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Well, my fundraising timeline has come to an end and the money raised goes to a good cause, but there are still a few shirts floating around in case you REALLY, REALLY want one. Here’s a list of where to look.

jessie holeva

Style Tips

Tuck. For these pants you either need a crop top or to tuck your shirt in.

Messy hair, embrace it. Perfection is overrated. I don’t like to look like a hot mess, but I’m cool with elegantly disheveled.

Metallic liner, love it. It’s so fresh for summer and easy to apply. The one I used is Physician’s Formula.

Don’t over think it. There’s no pink on my pants and the shoes can be a little club, but somehow it works. Guess and test. I say this all the time, but it really does help with creating unique and special outfits.
