Keeping up with the catwalk doesn’t have to be stressful or expensive. One of the easiest ways to update your look for the new season is with some artfully-chosen accessories. And you have plenty to choose from! Some simple jewelry, a hot bag, or even just rejuvenating your makeup can all help to keep you looking stylish. So if you want to get on trend, here are some fresh ideas to get you started.
- Red red red! For New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2013, Anna Sui’s models were sporting a vampy red lipstick paired with red-framed vintage cats-eye sunglasses and a washed-out burgundy in the hair for a strong look this year.
- Monochrome and citrus colors are big this season as the sixties continues to influence the runway. Think Twiggy and Jean Shrimpton. You can brighten up a black and white palette with a splash of citrus—lime, orange, lemon— and choose from many monochrome handbags.
- Try a roses-based theme. Statement necklaces have been a staple for a few seasons but roses on anything are trending for 2013. Check out this black rose number from Oscar de la Renta followed by a matching bracelet with one single large rose. Also keep an eye out for rose prints on bags for a great spring and summer accessory.
- Embrace animal prints. If you like your prints a little bit feistier, animal prints look set to continue to be popular through this season and the next. You don’t have to look like Pat Butcher to wear them either! Opt for leopard or tiger prints on bags or shoes for a subtle nod to this continuing trend.
- Metallics are still with us this season and are an easy trend to wear. Silver or golden sandals are an excellent way to wear metallics without overdoing it. Another option is a chunky piece of jewelry in gold or silver. An oversized bracelet ticks the metallics and statement jewelry boxes for any fashion fan.
February was a jam-packed month, plus it’s short so went by even faster! Let’s say bye to February and hello to MY BIRTHDAY MONTH! March is here, so let’s wave one last goodbye to Feb. 2013 and take a trip back though Instagram pics.
Here’s what happened.
Philly FABB was the media sponsor for Blonde Ambition at Andre Richard Salon. So naturally, as a founder of FABB I was in attendance and got blonded with clip-in extensions.
Started contributing to The Philadelphia Inquirer’s Philly.com.
Kohl’s sent me Rock & Republic Aztec denim. Love wearing those jeans with my Tory Burch Boots. Snagged the $500 boots for $140 at The Wardrobe Boutique - profit goes to charity, so many layers of goodness in that purchase!
Officially obsessed with red & pink together.
Kissed to a MEGA successful event with The Body Shop. (recap will be up tomorrow!!).
Trekked to NYC for the IFB Con. Got a free ticket in exchange for live blogging at one of the panels. And got my hair done and some other goodies!
Ate breakfast with my boo – Eggs Benedict, baby!
Stopped by the DBA Gifting Suite during NYFW right after wrapping a TV seg with The Better Show. Got spoiled there and became obsessed with Lookmatic glasses. Don’t you love?
One of my fave people Kristen (my friend who used to film the Trend Bites, but moved to LA) was in NYC when I was. Opted to take a later bus so I could catch up with her and her boyfriend over tea and free appetizers at their hotel.
Did a Trend Bite with LuLu*s showing how to rock spring trend now.
Worked out more. Did a Vday giveaway. Became obsessed with a grilled cheese place called Melt Down.
Was a speaker at a local blogger event. Bought a Parka from American Eagle (here’s link to similar style). Took coffee breaks.
Trend Hungry got an overhaul (minor tweaking still). Found out owls are good luck and that I like decorating tiny spaces. Did two TV segs with Jenn Fred on Fox29.

If you didn’t catch the Grammys last night, you missed a night full of stellar performances, surprise wins, and of course, jaw-dropping fashion! It’s official – skin is definitely in…I mean did you see J.Lo’s
dress?!?! From midriffs to cut-out dresses and plunging necklines, the stars were definitely showing off their beach-ready bodies. But our favorite look by far was the sheer. It’s practical, sexy, and gives coverage with a little bit of tease. Just make sure you don’t go sheer from head to toe – that’s a major NO NO.
What celebs stole the show in sheer?
Ashanti, Kelly Rowland, Alicia Keys and of course, Rihanna
– this girl can do no wrong!
Rihanna rocked the red carpet in her long, sheer dress matched with a matte red lip. The cut and length of the dress covers all the right areas while still encompassing some playfulness and sex appeal.
Steal the look in time for Valentine’s Day! Opt for a cocktail dress with sheer details.
Our recommendation: Pins and Needles High-Neck Chiffon Dress $109.00 $39.99 at Urban Outfitters.
If that’s not your style…
Snag a skirt.
Throw on some heels and elongate those legs! Red is always sexy and this leaves room for the imagination. ($26.99)

The most lovey-dovey day of the year is literally one week away. Valentine’s Day is the one day a year dedicated to being mushy, confessing your love, and wearing extra pink and red. This holiday was obviously designed for the girly girl. And as for moi, I’m using this as an excuse to scour one of my fave sites Shopbop for everything pretty and in the V-Day spirit. Let’s just hope my boyfriend reads this post before the 14th so presents arrive on time
Calvin Klein Underwear Naked Glamour Thong

Red has been trending for quite a while. This classic hue has been getting a whole-lot-a love on fashionable fingertips, lips, and denim, Now red lace seems to be a celebrity favorite.
1. Rita Ora took red for a few racy turns for her various looks at the MTV Europe Music Awards this past Sunday night. Her blonde locks go well with the all-red ensembles paired with a matching, red-lace manicure.
For the nail-polish obsessed, the best fall fashion accessory is deep red nails. Think red wine! Deep-red nails are stirred up major buzz at New York Fashion Week and have been a big street-style trend. These red-wine colors are a perfect accent color to your fall favorites. Different variations of this deep red-wine color (dark red, deep purple, burgundy) is a trend that’s here to stay and we are here to share some of our favorites with you.
1. Forever 21 – Wine Stain $2.80 // 2. Butter London – Dark Red $14.00 // 3. OPI – Malaga Wine $7.95 // 4. Essie – Skirting The Issue $8.00 // 5. Sally Hansen – Red Zin $6.99
Red wine stains lips and teeth. These dark hues do the same and can leave some unsightly yellow nails after its taken off, so don’t skip a good basecoat to keep your digits in mint condition. This versatile color will look excellent with earth tones and prints. We’re loving this trend so much that we’ll be rocking lips to match!
Comment below and tell us your favorite color for your nails for fall!

MTV award shows are my favorite. They’ve always got a fun vibe and good performances. The fashion isn’t always on point, but Charlize Theron’s look was a DO and you and do it too.
This peplum in red is a little more classic than trendy. Yes, peplums are hot right now, but a fitted red dress can go from season to season. It’s June and she wore it, but add some big bling and black heels for a holiday cocktail party. Wear it to a wedding or a hot date. It’s a special-occasion dress, but fits many occasions.
Here’s the dead ringer.

Were you just as glued to the 2012 Academy Awards as I was? So many amazing outfits, inspiring speeches, and the Cirque du Soleil BLEW MY MIND.
Okay, back to the trends – muted tones, bright reds, and peplums stole the show. Plus, peplums have been all over the runways, so it’s about time we talk about them. Plus, I really want one … now!
Let me break this trend down for ya.

It’s almost the 4th of July and it’s an excuse to dress patriotic. Love nautical stripes and red and white polka dot dresses, but right now I’m feeling something a little more casual. It’s a shore weekend so a breezy tank will work perfectly over a bikini.
