{ Steal Of The Week } Milly For DesigNation At Kohl’s

Milly for Kohls

Designer style at a fraction of the cost, that’s why I love diffusion lines so dearly. The Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection sold out so quick that most of us won’t get to enjoy it without forking over extra on eBay. So let’s move on to the next one. It’s seriously stylish and also on sale. Milly for DesigNation at Kohl’s is now available and well worth snagging. Continue reading…

{ Cinderella Chic } Fairytale Fashion For Real Life

One question I get a lot is what brands do I love/where I do shop. The answer is always the same yet different. It starts with “everywhere” and ends with a different list of favorites — depending on mood, moment and memory, of course. This post is not going to list out my favorite brands and shops (though I will add that to my idea notebook). No, instead it’s a roundup of pretty things from a line I tend to have very good luck with, LC Lauren Conrad for Kohl’s. The designs are really cute, fit my style and body, and then there’s also the fact that Kohl’s is almost never not running some sort of sale.

This time she’s taking a whimsical approach with inspiration from a certain well-known story, Cinderella. Here’s how to do fairytale fashion in real life.  Below are three looks along with my take on wear to where & why I love it.

{Trend Hungry Tuesday} Rihanna’s Handy Accessory

By now you probably know, Rihanna has come back to Instagram. And what is she posting about? Her upcoming spread in Elle magazine’s December issue. It’s sounding like her interview drops some secrets, but the fashion is on full display. So what’s the one trend she rocked that caught our eye? The hand piece, also known as a hand chain. It’s a bracelet with a ring attached, creating a style statement on your hand.

 A number of celebs have been spotted wearing this handy accessory, including Vanessa Hudgens, Anne Hathaway, Miley Cyrus, and Alicia Keys. And of course, this is one trend that doesn’t make you break the bank. There are a slew of budget-friendly hand pieces on the market ( around $10 or under!) from Lauren Conrad’s line at Kohl’s.

{Dare To Wear} Mixed Metals

It’s already week three of maxi-skirt styling and I’m even more in love with this skirt. In fact, maxis in general are becoming more near and dear to my heart. They’re far more comfortable than jeans and look more polished too. I’m sensing a maxi-skirt roundup post coming up.

I wore this outfit yesterday and  it got me through answering emails, blogging, a mini photoshoot, and a styling session — comfy enough for a busy day and stylish enough that I look the part.

{Style Tips}

1. Motorcycle jackets add edge to any outfit. It’s the off-duty blazer.

2. Not sure how to wear vintage jewelry? Layer with your everyday pieces, such as a watch and your other go-to layering bracelets. Mixing it in with your existing style only makes it more you-nique.

3. Mix warm and cool tones. The skirt, top, and bag are on the warm side, as is the gold bracelet. The jacket, boots, and vintage statement necklace would be considered cool. They work together because they are intermixed and create balance. This tip works for jewelry, clothing, even home decor.

{Dare To Wear} Maxi Skirts Make Legs For Days

This may be my favorite outfit post yet (love when that happens!!) and it’s showcasing one of my favorite trends that actually can make you look longer, the maxi skirt. I know some of you shorties out there may be thinking I’m crazy, saying maxis elongate, but they really really DO! I’m only 5’3 and man do I love when my photographer makes me look tall, but it’s not just the good photography that’s adding height to my frame. I also am wearing heels and have used a couple key styling tricks to make my stems appear longer. Scroll through the pics. My style tips on how to dress yourself to a new heights are below.

I hope you liked the pics. Now to the style tips wight he focus being how to look taller in a maxi skirt.

{Style Tips}

1. Opt for a high-waisted style. I’m a broken record with this tip, but it’s a really good one so remember it. If you’re on the short side a high-waisted skirt immediately elongates your lower half. It get’s better. It also clinches you at the waist. That’s how you prevent looking like a sack of potatoes when covered head-to-toe in flawy fabric.

2. The first tip leads to this.

2. Go monochromatic. All we short ladies (sorry to exclude my tall trendsetters) must have been told that we have to wear shirt hems to avoid looking like we’re drowning in clothes.

{Fall Faves} #5 Ankle Boots

It’s officially fall, darling! Fall is truly my favorite season. The crisp air, the fashions, the food, Halloween, cider, and yes, back to the fashions. All week long we’ll be counting down the Trend Hungry Top 5 Fall Faves and at the end of the week there will be a special giveaway announced! You won’t want to miss it!

To kick off the countdown, it’s a pair of ankle boots that were so chic that I just had to buy two pairs. The price was right and now I won’t need any low-heeled ankle boots for a little while. If you follow along on social media, then these boots probably look familiar, since I took to Instagram to ask what color I should get, gray or tan. I got mixed responses, and some even encouraged getting both, so I did. Thanks for shopping along with me!

They’re pretty comfy so far, though today is my first day wearing them. Heel is about 1.5 inches, giving me little height while easy to wear and walk around in. I bought two because a comfy-chic boot on the cheap isn’t always easy to find and these look like they cost much more. These H by Hudson boots may not be identical, but the vibe feels the same and they’re around $300.

{Shop It} SONOMA life + style Women’s Ankle Boots, $74.99 $39.99 at Kohl’s.

Don’t forget your Kohl’s cash for extra savings.

Right now I’ve got the gray on with shorts that look like a skirt and a rocker tee tucked in. I’ll post pic on Instagram soon so you can see.

What color do you like? Would you buy two, one, all, or none? Comment below! Check back tomorrow to see what makes the #4 spot on Trend Hungry Top 5 Fall Faves.

Hope your day is going fabulous!

{ Dare to Wear } All Wrapped Up

Work it, wear it, love it. Ever get wrapped up in work or stress and forget to chill? Um, me too. I’ve been nurturing my soul lately with reflecting, yoga, and just embracing everything I love. True story, when you follow your bliss everything feels right. When I used to waitress I had a lot of supportive regular customers that would follow my blog and TV segments. I’m so grateful for that support, and one woman in particular would always tell me to just keep following my bliss. She’d always tell me that she knew I’d be successful because she could see how happy and it was clear that I was doing just that, following my bliss. I saw her once right before my last day and she was so happy to see how well I was doing and was cheering me on to keep going for it.
