Trend Obsessed: Miley Cyrus, Jessie J & Cher Lloyd Love Striped Skinnies

Miley Cyrus is campaigning for a new trend to take off. Thick, bold horizontal stripes are virtually on every piece of clothing she has been spotted wearing recently. And it’s clearly catching on, with celeb sighting include Rihanna, Emma Stone, Nicki Minaj, and Heidi Klum are in on the trend and Jessie J & Cher Lloyd even have the same exact pants as Miss Miley, $90 from Motel Rocks. While vertical stripes are known to elongate figures and be flattening on everyone, we can’t help but think of how eerily similar she looks to a Tim Burton character.  But black and white are blowing up for spring and pants, they’re the new statement piece!

You can try this trend with pants or a skirt with vertical stripes and pair them with a solid colored blouse or T-shirt. The stripes allow you to look longer and draw attention to your newly-extended self.

Celeb: Motel Skinny Jordan Jean in Black and White Stripe, $90.00 at Singer 22.

Steal: L’Amour Nanette Lepore Stars and Stripes Jeggings, $25.00 at JCPenney.

Looking for something a little more refined? Pinstripes are always classy, a slimmer line having the same effect. Try both and figure out which stripe suits you best. Afraid to fully commit to the striped trend? Choose accessories with stripes like handbags, scarves and headbands. It’s a great way to get used to the look in small doses.

Beyonce’s Blog & 5 Celebs We Wish Had Fashion Blogs

By Kelsey

Wouldn’t it be nice if some of Hollywood’s best dressed lent their expertise to us on a daily basis? In a dream world I would open an iPhone app every morning to fashion blogs personally written by some of my favorite dressed celebrities. Beyonce’s blog wets our palette for celeb style, and here are five more we’d like to see more fashion from.

From edgy , classic , everyday and crazy I’d pick my mood and read my blog. Yes, in a perfect world everyday would be a fashion show and it would be easy to know what exactly was going through the mind of my favorite celeb when they stepped out of the house. Since this is probably a far off dream, let’s pretend! Here are some of my dream bloggers.

1.Lauren ConradLauren Conrad is one of my favorite designers. Making fashion look effortless I absolutely love her desire for floral print. She gives  off a old fashion glam look while still looking up to date and lovely. She may have a beauty blog (TheBeautyDeptartment.com) and blog on LaurenConrad.com, but I want to see her style daily… and maybe copy it.

2. Katy PerryFeeling crazy? Then rock the blue hair and dramatic lashes! Katy Perry teaches us that you’re never too old to have fun with fashion. You can make a statement every day; don’t be afraid to take a risk.

3. Blake Lively is always on top of new trends. As fashionable as the character she plays on tv, she looks chic in every day clothes and in formal wear.  Known for a sleek and stylish look Blake always rocks top designer looks. Get her look! Continue Reading

Sparkle & Shine Like Taylor Swift At The American Music Awards

By Kesley

This holiday season we’re obsessed with high shine and sparkle! Stars like Taylor Swift  rocked the trend without looking like a member of the ice capades this past Sunday at the The American Music Awards. We got to see style choices of our favorites in the music industry, past and present. Of course, not  everyone’s red carpet look was fortunate enough to crack our top list.

Obviously, we were wowed by T-Swizzle’s  beautiful nude dress with gold sequin embellishments, a slicked-back bun, Continue Reading

Trendy Or Spendy? H&M’s Latest Designer Collaboration with Maison Martin Margiela

By Kelsey

H&M, please don’t mistake your new overpriced, Maison Martin Margiela collaboration, with the idea that you are now trendy. Maison Margiela, a Belgian designer, who is seen more at exclusive boutiques then shopping malls has created a one-of-a-kind line for H&M.  Margiela is known for out-of-the-box fashion that may, or may not deserve a second look. The Maison Martin Margiela line, debuting in H&M today (with people lined up since yesterday AM), is not like anything you’ve seen in the store before and neither are the prices. Ranging from $12.95 for accessories to $399 dollars for a jacket, this isn’t the normal for H&M.

Jeans $69.95 // Bodysuit $39.95

Just viewing the collection online, I can make a clear-cut statement that I will not be a fan. If I wanted to wear my jeans inside out I would… for free, not pay $100 to look like I got dressed in the dark. Call me boring, lame, or Continue Reading

Five Style Lessons from Kiernan Shipka

By Kelsey

Well we just stumbled upon something interesting – that awkward moment when a 12 year old, Kiernan Shipka (AKA Mad Men’s Sally Draper) has better style than you.  Her undeniable elegance is shown through her fashion choices. Although we’d like to think someone a little older is responsible for her fashion choices, her love for ballet, eloquence, and the 50’s shine through regardless of age. Kiernan is known for her adorable collection of perfectly-tailored dresses. Bows, pink, and adorable flats are a part of her daily wardrobe. Although Kiernan takes on a more delicate look, there are times she pairs a glamorous dress with a pair of distressed army boots. We are also a huge fan of her layered bracelets and bands, not to mention her fabulous hair styles that seem to match every outfit perfectly. Check out some of our favorite Kiernan Shipka looks. You may find learn a few things.

1. It’s never too soon for a sock bun. Every age looks good with a chic bun. We adore this ballerina bun. It is a quick style that fixes a bad hair day while showing off your stunning face. Kieran is seriously schooling us right now! Continue Reading

Four Style Lessons From Michelle Obama

By Kelsey

Welcome The First Lady of fashion, Michelle Obama. Move aside pant suits and drab cookie-cutter ensembles, we can all learn a little something from the last four stylish years of sophistication and fun fashion that hit the white house. Regardless of your political views, no one can deny the impeccable taste of our current First Lady. Since Michelle has taken on the role as First Lady, her fashion choices have been closely scrutinized. Michelle has been more open and unique with her clothing selections, indulging fun prints, bold colors and form-fitting dresses, extremely different from the monotonous fashion of First Ladies of  years past. Remeber when she posed in a sleeveless dress and everyone was shocked – so nuts! What we admire about Michelle’s style is that she knows how to add a fashion-forward twist to the usual boring business attire, giving everyone hope that fashion doesn’t die at the work place. Whether it’s a presidential debate or a day with the kids, Michelle looks effortless in her apparel. Here are four style lessons we can take from our fabulous First Lady.

Chanel Is Bringing The French Manicure Back

By Kelsey

Have you ever peered down at your beautiful nails and asked yourself… “What happened to the French Manicure?” Remember when the French manicure was a must have if you were trying to look your very best?  Going to the salon and getting a light pink coat with a painted white tip would make you feel like royalty. But then the poor innocent French manicure took a drastic fall from grace.  Gross, long, and tacky now comes to mind when thinking of the French manicure sported by reality TV stars from New Jersey (the Housewives, the Jerseylicious bunch, and  even Snooki ruined this manicure).

Alas, we all remember the French manicure for the cute look it once was; attention Fashionistas:  its time to take back the French manicure! Personally, I’m a fan of a very subtle French mani. This includes your natural nail, a light polish with a thin painted on white line.  As we all know by now acrylic nails can leave your nails extremely brittle, thin and flat out ugly – not very chic.
