{ Trend Hungry Tuesday } Fur Rules Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week is winding down, but there’s one trend I keep noticing on so many of the celebs in attendance, fur. We’re opting for the faux variety, but before the budget-friendly shopping picks, let’s chat about who was spotted in a furry fashion at PFW.

There was Rihanna in a yellow fur coat at the Moschino party. Her gal pal Katy Perry was also in a fur style at the event. Continue Reading

{ Trend Hungry Tuesday } Athleisure Style Works At The Super Bowl & Beyond

The term athleisure has been floating around the fashion world for a little while now. It’s fashionable activewear also meant for street style. Think printed yoga pants, varsity jackets, jerseys and more. It’s a growing category and brands are launching new lines and collections in this space. Heck, athleisure even hurt the sales for  jeans.

Spotted this weekend at the Super Bowl halftime show was Missy Elliott wearing a Nascar-esque jumpsuit while performing with Katy Perry, who changed into an embellished zip-up hoodie. Continue Reading

{Trend Hungry Tuesday} Skeletal Style

Before the title scares you away, please note that this trend requires no dieting, as the only bones on display are printed on fabric. Halloween is practically here (ahh, what’s your costume?) and you don’t have to go all out to add a little spook to your style. Just ask Katy Perry, who posted this picture on Instagram of herself in skeletal leggings.

Miss Perry does like to try out tricky trends and she’s not alone.

Over the years a number of celebs have donned this trend, including Christina Aguilera, Emma Roberts, Lucy Hale and more.

Okay, now to the budget-friendly fashion picks.

American-Flag Fashion Under $30, Inspired by Beyonce

Let’s celebrate the U-S-A. Independence Day is this Friday and stars and stripes are trending. The American-flag print is being donned by the stars.

Ariana Grande recently rocked a patriotic skirt while performing for a taping of Macy’s Annual 4th of July Spectacular. The Queen B, Miss Beyonce also took the trend to the stage with a flag-print dress by Givenchy while performing with Jay Z. for their On The Run tour. Thanks MTVStyle for sharing this pic found here: Instagram @RiccadroOtisci17

Of course flag fashion isn’t a new trend. Other star spotted in stars and stripes include Kesha, Jessica Simposn, Katy Petty, Rihanna and Justin Bieber. The Biebs wore it from head to toe a few years ago in a onesie, which is now on sale by the way.

Ready to rock the style yourself? Here are my picks for flag-print fashions. I searched Forever 21 for this trend and all are listed are under $30. Any favorites? Share in the comment section below!

Crop Tops & Matching Skirts

And now, time for another edition of Trend Hungry Tuesday, the blog series / radio segment that pinpoints the new stylish trends as seen on celebrities with where to get it for less. How can ya not love that?

Okay, on to the trend. Celebs get matchy matchy, specifically crop tops paired with coordinating skirts. You’ve seen this before, hugging tightly on Beyonce , Khloe Kardashian, and Kim Kardashian too. Now it’s getting funky and flowy and for a good reason, Coachella.

crop tops & skirts

Coachella was last weekend and Katy Perry looked right on trend for the fashionable festival with a loose, ruffled crop top and matching skirt. She wasn’t the only celeb opting to match at Coachella. Beyonce surprised fans and took the stage in a loose-fitted mini skirt and cropped-style top and danced while her sister Solange performed.

Try the trend at Love Culture with this Flower Power Crop Top for $19 with matching skirt for $22.

So will you be trying the trend?

{Celebrity Style} Dumpster Diving for Fierce Fashion

Trashy goes trendy! Celebrities go eco-chic for Earth month and instead of buying new styles they’re dumpster diving to find new fashions.   Some of our favorite famous fashionistas are up -cycling the garbage they find and turning it into style statements.  Katy Perry and Rihanna have been rocking tin foil as jewelry. Miley Cyrus is a fan of Chinese takeout containers as handbags, and Lindsay Lohan pretty much only wears garbage.

Why Try

Digging through the trash is a hit style trend for a few reasons.

1. Good for the environment, as we’re wasting less.

2. Ultra affordable. It takes absolutely no cash to try this trend.

3. Unique pieces. No need to worry about someone rocking the same style. Dumpster diving offers variety and allows your imagination to play stylist.

Dumpster Diving Tips

1. Hit up the rich neighborhoods. Better neighborhood mean better loot.

2. Don’t forget about recycling bins. There’s less to dig through and many people rinse off items before recycling.

So will you look at garbage a whole new way, or are you already a garbage picker with a penchant for turning trash into treasure?

Celebs Say Hello to Holographic Fashion {Finds Under $50!}

Holographic print is the new black. Substitute it in and give your metallic pumps a break. This futuristic fashion trend goes with everything, was a hit on the runways, and seems to be trending with some of the most stylish celebrities.

Miley Cyrus posted a video on Instagram today of herself rocking the trend. It was a costume for performing, as the video of Miley is from a recent show in Orlando, Fl. Katy Pretty is also embracing the holographic style as is Rihanna and Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale.

How to wear

Avoid looking like a space cadet or risk being too shiny and opt for accessories. Try a holographic-print bag to amp up your outfit or step into style with a hologram shoe. See how I styled my holographic heels in a recent outfit post

Shop the style

This trend is one that isn’t as readily available on the cheap as I’d like, but after some deal digging I found a few amazing holographic style finds under $50. All are linked above.

Hello Cuticle Tattoos! Finger Art, the Nail Art of 2014

Celebrities, runway models, and even we commoners have gotten into nail art  - I mean, have you seen all the manicure & nail art kits at the drugstore? Whelp, turns out nail art is so 2013. The trend that Katy Perry, Zooey Deschanel, and Lady GaGa brought to the masses has spread to the fingers. Yeah,  it’s time to take it further  - decorating your fingers is the new DO.

Perhaps, Lorde sparked the finger-art trend? Her dip-dyed fingers acted as an accessory during her performance at the 56th Grammy Awards. MTV Style reports that the models’ fingers looked awfully similar at the Creatures of Comfort New York Fashion Week presentation. rad-nails-beyond-cuticle-art-1

How to wear the trend

Midi rings accent a manicure nicely, or check out cuticle tattoos – it’s a prettier alternative to dying your fingers. These temporary tattoos are made in the USA (yay US team at the Winter Olympics!) and can be applied to your skin or nails. In fact, their site shows that it looks really awesome when you apply some to skin and some to nails.

Rad Nails cuticle tattoos cost $6 and come with 14 tattoos per strip, just in case ya mess up.

So will you stretch them out so you can get more wear or pile on the tats? Share your opinion of this trend in the comments below.

Celebrity Trend: Pastel Outerwear (Under $50!!)

Spring has not sprung. In fact, we will have six more weeks on winter. But that doesn’t mean dark colors are still the standard. In fact, some of our favorite fashionistas are mixing it up this season and opting for pastel coats. Light pink, purple, baby blue, and mint seem to be top shades. Celebrities in pastel coats include Miley Cyrus, Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Sarah Jessica Parker.

This trend is feminine, makes you look tanner (it’s true!), and can be scored for under $50.  Check out this powder pink H&M coat for $49.95 at H&M.

Stylist Tip:  Pear-shaped ladies, style with an infinity scarf to balance out proportions.
