This year is flying by. And thank the heavens, a long weekend is upon us! Everyone I know if headed down the shore for a weekend getaway. I’ll likely be doing just that and here’s what I’ve added to my shopping/ packing list. I found everything using Coupons.com Macy’s coupon codes.
Tip: When low on time, opt to shop at a department stores. They have a wide selection, which means you can get everything you need at one place. Department stores are ideal for a girl on the go.
1.Rompin’ Ruffles. This can easily be dressed up or down,. which makes it perfect for packing. That way, one piece can work no matter the occasion.
2. Jean Jacket. This jacket acts as the perfect topper and creates a light layer for changing temps.
3. Wedges. Wedges are a short girl’s best friend. They add height without being too dressy or too challenging to waddle in. Did I mention I’m only 5’3?
4. Totes Amazing. Yeah, this tote is pretty amazing. Wear to the beach with a stack of magazines. Or bring to a coffee shop with your laptop for an early-morning work session before a day of fun and sun.
5. Sunnies. Sunglasses aren’t a want, they’re a need. They protect your peepers and hide your eyes when you’ve gone sans makeup.
These are my Memorial Weekend Essentials. What are yours? Share in the comments below!
Denim is one of those trends that will never go out of style. Denim killed it in the 80’s, was the THING in the 90’s, and is certainly resurfacing in everyone’s wardrobes present day! Our girl Rihanna is a total fan of the denim on denim trend and rocks it quite frequently… but always in a unique and quirky way! Whether it’s your dad’s vintage jean jacket or a pair of jean shorts you picked up from the thrift store, make this trend your own!
This jean look by RiRi is my favorite because it’s not too in your face and is flirty and bright enough for Spring!
Can you say fun, funky and completely risky! I’m not saying COMPLETELY commit to mimicking this look, but the top and bottom can be matched with other pieces from your wardrobe to create a fun outfit for clubbing or music festivals! On sale for $17.99, this Delia’s Denim Sweetheart Bustier goes great with high-waisted pants for just enough coverage and hiding that navel area! And as for the skirt, I am obsessed with this Miss KL denim skater skirt. (did I mention it’s 41% off the original price…score!) At first glance, the skirt doesn’t appear like denim, but the unique pattern makes it totally wearable for casual Fridays, brunches in the city, or going for a walk.
Don’t be afraid to commit to the denim-on-denim trend. It’s easy, inexpensive and something you always want to have in your closet.
In case you haven’t noticed, this blog is ultra budget friendly. That’s because fashion should be fun and the guilt associated with spending money takes away from the care-free feeling creating your style should give. That being said,a girl that’s too penny wise and doesn’t treat herself makes for a dull girl. Like I said, style should be enjoyable, so sometimes you gotta get that pair of $228 jeans. Here are the rules of the splurge.
1. GOTTA LOVE IT. Yeah, if you don’t feel like you cannot live without it and it will vastly improve your style happiness then think about what else you could be spending that money on.
2. FITS LIKE A DREAM. For me, it’s so had to find the right jeans. I’d gladly trade in my 10 pairs of cheapies for one pair that makes me feel flawless.
3. NOT TOO TRENDY. If you’re gonna invest in a piece make sure it’s worth the investment. A neon belt, probably not worth spending $80 on. Little black dress, you’ll wear to cocktail parties, dinners, weddings, you name it.
4. MAKE IT A CLOSET STAPLE. Is this something that will fit right into your existing wardrobe and be a go-to item? A printed pair of denim may look really cute, but a classic blue pair could end being worn for 10 years. Think about price be wear. If it’s something you’ll wear over and over, then that designer items may actually end up costing you less per wear than that Forever 21 dress you only wore once.
5. QUALITY IS KEY. When opting to drop cash that you’re not used to spending, give it a quality check. Is it handmade or made with an expensive material? Ya gotta pay for quality.
Who hasn’t lived in jeans at one time or another? They’re timeless, one of those pieces that change with the time and look good on any age. This classic, American style doesn’t only work on your bottom half. A chambray shirt can go a long way. Treat it like your favorite pair of jeans and make it a closet staple.

Calling all petite fashionistas! Do you hate jean shopping? Are all the fabulous styles too long? Does it drive you insane?!?! Okay, clearly I’m not a fan of this and run into this problem way too often. But, when I get something new I want to wear it now, like right now! I can’t help it. So here a few little tricks I personally do all the time!
Get stylish in your own skin! Nationally recognized Style Expert (and my mentor!!) Jene Luciani shares her insider style tips and shows us that you don’t have to be a size zero to look fabulous… on a budget, of course! – Jessie
Ladies – how many of you are dieting or vowing to exercise more this New Year? While healthy resolutions are always a good thing, it’s the UNhealthy ones that truly bother me. And when it comes to wanting to lose weight, a healthy aspiration can quickly turn unhealthy, before you even know it. As a veteran TV personality, author, columnist and someone who regularly goes on TV or appears at events giving fashion advice to women, I’m not blind to the fact that the fashion industry – and Hollywood for that matter – perpetuates an unnatural perception of what a woman’s body IS and should look like. While Jennifer Hudson may have lost her curves through a Weight Watchers diet and daily exercise with a trainer, others turn to starvation, excessive exercising and even worse methods – to get that coveted size zero frame.
So, after a recent appearance on the Dr. Oz Show, I received an email that motivated me to create a movement encouraging ALL women to finally accept and love the skin they are in. The email said “thank you for speaking to us – the REAL women of the world – and for not being a size zero.” Continue Reading
Floral jeans are everywhere and on every celebrity. Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Alba, Olivia Polmero and Beyonce are just a few famous faces that know this trend is in full bloom. They’re feminine, pretty, and perfect for a boozy brunch with your gal pals.
Not sure what you’d pair floral jeans with? You can’t go wrong with a plain tee, but an even better option is a chambray top (love this one by Lands End) similar to styles shown on Katie Holmes & Rihanna. Or try a leather top, like what Minka Kelly and Shenae Grimes (here’s a peplum version). Another interesting pairing would be with another pattern (huge trend right now – read more here ). Lace is a print subtle enough to let these big-print pants be the focal point, and makes for an ultra- girly look.
Think you’re ready to give these printed pants a try? Here’s a whole slew and they’re all under $90.00. Comment below to share your styling tips!
Now that it’s nice out (minus this last week of 24/7 rain) it’s time to get out of drab and into fab … clothes! A new wardrobe doesn’t really fit a skinny budget. Make the most of what ya got girl, and a pair of white jeans will instantly update your wardrobe.
Trend: White Jeans
Celeb Cravers: J.Lo, Victoria Beckham, Ashley Tisdale.
Style: Skinny, but if that ain’t your thang then opt for boot cut – very complementary! J.Lo rocks the wide leg. That style is for a truly confident fashionista.
Hungry: It makes me sad because the most fabulous pair ever is currently sold out! They’re by Almost Famous and were at Sears for only $12.00!! They fit like designer jeans, can you believe it?!?! I own a pair and need more since they’re so amazing. But I found you another pair that’s still pretty amazing.
Tag: Carson Double-Button Stretch Twill Skinny, Was $29.90 – $34.90, Now $23.92 – $27.92 (price varies on size) at Alloy.
And for boot cut Express is where it’s at and they carry lots of different lengths. Hey, not all of us have long legs (I’m only 5’3).
Zippers are no longer in hiding. They’re a focal point. Last year everyone started wearing shirts and skirts that highlighted the zipper. Now it’s a given. Show off that zipper!
Craving: zippers on the leg of skinny jeans. It’s practical when squeezing into a snug-fitting pair, not to mention chic. It’s got a retro feel and a skintight pair in black make me feel very grease lightening.
Check out this pair ( pictured above) I found for super cheap at Forever 21. At only $14.50, you can afford to buy these babies in more than one color. The washes available are black, indigo, denim washed, and denim. I now wear them practically everyday.
