{Steal of the Week} Suede Gladiator Sandals

I recently gushed about a sale going on at C. Wonder and at the time of post I had only shopped the sale for clients. Since then I had a chance to go back and peruse a bit for my own joy and ended leaving with the most fabulous gladiator sandals (in two colors, had to!) for a price lower than I’ve spent before at Payless.

These gladiator sandals are quite comfortable, look classy and chic, oh and used to cost around $100. I got two pairs for under $60. Alas, the cognac color is out,  but there are still some sizes left in black. I gotta say that the black ended up being my favorite and have worn them a handful of times already.

Pair with a tee-shirt dress, white jeans, a leather skirt, or with whatever your stylish self thinks of. They’re super versatile and and I love the price. Or look for style inspiration on my Instagram, as I’ll be wearing these babies often.

Take Note: Sandals may run a bit on the narrow side. I have skinny feet so they fit great, maybe even a pinch roomy for me but have had clients try on their shoes felt snug.

{Steal of the Week} Spring Slacks from Gap

The arrival of spring means one important thing: patterned pants. Floral, striped, baroque or abstract. They’re the perfect way to express a bit of your personality without having to try too hard. I bought my first pair of patterned pants last spring and they quickly became a staple in my closet. They were a pair of cropped floral pants from H&M. They were $15 and I got so many compliments on them. Some people are intimidated by patterned pants (myself included). Try ‘em on, kick it around the house get comfortable in them, then rock the crap out of them. If you like it, wear it!

Check out these patterned pants on sale at Gap.

Steal of the week_patterned pants_cropped_gap_spring

Each of these three pairs of too-cute cropped pants are now $32.99 a pop. My favorite style are the navy stripes. Pair with a polka-dot top and chunky, statement necklace if you’re feeling daring.

Style tip: Looking to add curves to your figure? Opt for the striped style to give the illusion of more curves.

The geo print would be pretty versatile. They’re understated enough that they’d look fabulous on any body type. Try with a cute jute wedge and a linen-blend tee to keep it casual, or a solid-color blouse to dress it up.

If you’ve got shorter legs, try the  yellow color-block pants. With a lighter color on the bottom they give the illusion of longer legs. Rock with nude pumps to give yourself a bit of extra height.

Each of these pants were originally $55. You can grab them on sale now at the Gap for only $33 – that’s 40% off, and there are still tons of sizes left. Get shopping!

{Steal of the week} Rich & Skinny Jeans

Spring is just days away – is your closet ready? One of the hottest trends this spring is pastel denim. It’s fun, feminine, and flirty. Pastel denim can be tough though, because you don’t want to look like the Easter Bunny threw up on you. But if you’re looking to add some pastel slacks to your wardrobe, try starting with these.

The Rich and Skinny ‘Punch UP’ jeans in fruit punch are the perfect pair of spring jeans to get you in the mood for the season. But like I said, you want to be careful adding other colors with these. Try sticking with neutrals or printed tops.

You can grab these over at for only $45, and if you know what Rich and Skinny jeans usually retails for then you know that these are an absolute STEAL. They’re 76%off! Rich and Skinny is seen on celebs like Blake Lively, Halle Berry and Julianne Hough. Pretty much anything Julianne wears is a trend in my book.

{Steal of the Week} Kelsi Dagger Mini Bag

If there’s one thing every girl should have, it’s a fab leather (or suede) cross-body bag. It’s a practical, sassy, and an adorable accessory that’s having a major moment, specifically the mini style. A mini bag fits the essentials while enabling you to be handsfree – ideal for a standing event, shopping, or happy hour.

Find it in a cute print and it’s an outfit-upgrader.  This week’s steal is the perfect blend of fashion and function. It’s luxe style on sale to fit a skinny budget. Okay, now that the suspense has been built up I give you the steal of the week.

It’s genuine suede aaaaand almost 70% off. I love small leopard print accessories because it makes it so easy to mix and match prints, which is so in right now.

Hot Deal: Mink Pink Dress for Less

Call me a weirdo, but I am constantly looking for things that go against the grain. For example, when they said ombre hair was out, I went and got an ombre do.  I want a colored gemstone instead of a diamond for my engagement ring and I like ugly cars better.  The same goes for my personal style too – fringed boots, funky printed blouses, too much jewelry. I just dig being different and standing out. I think that’s why when I saw this Mink Pink dress I freaked out a little bit.

Steal of the week_Nordstrom_Mesh_Bold_Floral Dress_Spring

I mean LOOK AT IT. It’s perfect! I think I would actually hate it if it didn’t have the black mesh overlay. It’s the perfect mix of girly and edgy. It is definitely BOLD and it takes a bold gal to wear it. Would you be up for it?! I think it would be the perfect dress to wear out with your friends on your birthday, to a concert or to brunch at that funky new place down the street. And the shoe possibilities with this frock are literally endless. Versatility is the best.

Not only is the Mink Pink  Secret Garden dress totally different and fabulous for spring, it’s half off at Nordstrom, ringing in at $49.95.

Friday Find: The Chicest Boots From Forever 21

I know, you’re already skeptical. We Trend Hungry fashionistas LOVE Forever 21, as long as the item we snag doesn’t look like it’s from Forever 21… if ya know what I mean.

Being a budget fashionista is all about getting a good price without the item looking cheap. And although this may be a little steep for Forever 21 (the boots are $42.80), you cannot argue with how freaking awesome these boots are. Gold hardware is big for fall and these boot look more designer than deal, which is just what we’re going for.

Friday Find: Stylish Candle Holders Too Good To Ignore

Earlier this week we gushed about our faves from H&M’s home collection (ahem, which just launched in the US!) and we forgot to share these freakin’ amazing H&M candle holders. Shame on us!

There are so many reasons why these candle holders deserve the #FridayFind spot. First, the price is right at $3.95. Second, they look luxe. They also feel kinda Grecian, will look fab on a coffee table tray or um, anywhere, and these glass candle holders come in three metallic shades: copped, gold, silver.

So which shade suits your style? Comment below or tweet me @jessieholeva #FridayFind!

Cheap Sunglasses: Why Boutique Owner Kristy Mak Swears You Should Snag Sunnies Under $10!

By Courtney

A favorite shop stop of Trend Hungry, Nich Boutique has been selling sunnies since day one for only $10.00, never a penny over.  That skinny-budget style savvy comes from store owner and visionary Kristy Mak, who firmly believes in affordable sunglasses, and style for that matter. We got the chance to sit down with the creative behind Nich and hear why she loves saving when it comes to sunnies.

Kristy Mak

1. When it comes to sunnies, what’s your philosophy on price?

I believe sunnies should always be affordable. Personally, I would never spend over $25 on a pair of sunglasses.

2. Why are sunglasses worth going cheap on?

You wear sunglasses nearly every day so your sunglasses should match your outfit.  You wouldn’t wear the same pair of shoes everyday, would you? And how many times have you sat on, lost, or broken a pair of sunglasses?  Affordable sunnies allow you to replace them without breaking your budget.  Keeping sunnies penny-friendly allows you to buy a back-up, like in another color or style!

3. So how do recommend standing out in affordable sunglasses?

Affordability gives shoppers the courage to try something new without feeling bad about spending the money.  Printed sunnies, throwback 80’s styles, or exaggerated cat eyes don’t seem as daunting when you’re only spending $10.

4. What about those high-fashion looks or designer sunnies that are so coveted? How do you recommend savvy shoppers achieve designer style on a skinny budget?

What a lot of shoppers don’t know is that when you are buying a “designer sunglass,” often times the designer themselves have nothing to do with the sunglasses.  They just sell, or license out, their names to manufacturers so they can slap on a logo to their own designs.  The big bug eye Chloé glasses that were all the rage years ago were available in plenty of stores for less than $25.  You don’t need the logo to get the look.

5. What is the greatest benefit to purchasing skinny-budget sunnies?

Sometimes more is more!  Get a few pairs for different outfits and different moods.  Keep one in your purse, one in your car, and another pair by your front door!

6. What’s hot right now for spring/summer 2013?

While aviators and wayfarers are classics, printed sunnies are huge now (think tribal and vintage floral), as well as variations on the cateye.  Ombre is also big in glasses now where the top of the frame is dark and gets lighter to clear towards the bottom of the frames.

7. What’s your signature sunnie style?

I’ve been rocking the circle 70’s glasses.  Think Harry Potter meets John Lennon.

In honor of Kristy’s budget stance, here’s a slew of sunnies for you to peruse, all under $10, of course!!

Friday Find: MNG Textured Jacket, aka Your New Spring Necessity

What a fabulous Friday! This is the kickoff of the new column, Friday Find! Every other week I’ll be sharing my #1 pick from a week of shopping and scoping out the stores (I’m a window-shopping addict!). Each week the find will fit a skinny budget and will about be so good you’ll want to buy it right on the spot! I know this because I’ll only be featuring the items that I literally felt I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT, paired with a price tag fit for my frugal ways. Even though I blog about clothes, shoes, bags, and beauty, I don’t buy a ton. I’m very select with my purchases (momma works hard for her money honey!) and that’s why I decided to add Friday Find to the blog. I want to show you what I find worth purchasing and I’m starting off with a jacket I’ve managed to wear practically daily since buying.

Here’s the the jacket styled with ahigh-low dress and topped with an infinity scarf fit for an on-camera appearance and a busy day of meetings around NYC.
