Waiting and wishing for the perfect Valentine’s Day this year? I hope you’re planning on more than indulging in chocolate truffles and conversation hearts! Whether you’re coupled up or riding solo this V-Day, it’s the perfect chance to rock a cute and flirty mani! Break out your reds, pinks, hearts and sparkles, and with little creativity, you’ll have a romantic manicure that will have all your friends swooning a “Be Mine” <3!
So we all know the classic red manicure is always beautiful, but I think Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to shake things up a bit. So we searched the internet for some easy DIY’s for your digits!
2. Do Dots.To achieve dots on your digits, simply apply a base coat of red. Let your nails dry fully, then, using a a dotting tool (tooth pick or pointy Q-tip will do the trick), dip the end in a white polish (even White Out works!) and apply polka dots in any design you wish! Wait several minutes for the dots to dry to apply a clear top coat. Too cute! We found this look at Clothes, Cosmetics and Chat.
3. Seeing Pink. Check out this mani mix by Dressed Up Nails. It’s as user friendly as it gets, but still makes a statement.
4. Over-The-Moon-In-Love Mani. My personal favorite style may seem like the most intricate and challenging style, but even a nail-art newbie like myself pulled this one off with ease. The Beauty Departmentcreated this tutorial and they’re ultra fab for giving in-depth tutorials. It’s your basic half-moon mani, but with nails strips underneath instead of polish. Here’s the Trend Hungry tutorial on the half-moon mani.
Now that you’ve seen our faves, show us what you’ll be rocking this V-day! Comment and share your own marvelous manis or Instagram a pic and tag #trendhungry or @trendhungryblog!
I’m in love with online shopping. It’s perfect for finding what you like and for the price that’s right – much harder to impulse buy. As a skinny-budget fashionista I pride myself on being up on the latest trends, but more importantly, knowing where to get the look at the best price. Wild Doll is my new online destination and I’m thrilled to announce a Wild Doll clothing giveaway!
It’s pretty sweet! If you win, you get to pick the piece of clothing that YOU want! And, guess what else? You can enter more than once. Directions for entering are below and each method counts as an entry. So what Wild Doll clothes do you have your eye on? I’m loving their dresses – so chic!
How to win: There’s a few ways and each counts as one entry. Take your pick or try all five to up your odds. Winner will be announced on Monday, June 25th!
Looking for some new threads to add to your wardrobe? Duh! If you are reading this blog, odds are you like clothes, and shoes, and bags, and fashion of course! Well I’ve just attended my first clothing swap party and it was a total hit.
Grab your stylish girlfriends, bring gently worn clothes you’re not into anymore, spread them out, start swapping, and help yourself to a cocktail. It’s the perfect girl’s night. You get rid of the excess clothes in your closet, snag some new additions (hopefully one will be an item you’ve envied), and have fun without spending any cash money.
This picture is only a few of the items I walked away with. I also got a few more dresses, a white tee, jeans, and some Lia Sophia jewelry (my friend Kristen’s mom used to sell it, score! - p.s. Kristen shoots all the Trend Bite videos, new one will be up next week!).
Kate, Kristen, & Me (Jessie) Swapping Clothes / Wearing Wigs!
It was so fun that we’re planning another one. I vote we create a signature cocktail for it. Who’s in? And, do you know of any fashion-forward drinks? A fashionista? Or a a skinny girl something or other? I love Bethany Frankel and I also love the word skinny (calories & budget).
Have you ever had a swap party? Comment below or Facebook me!
Feathers! I thought this look was kind of out, but I was totally wrong and it’s back and beautiful. I’m hooked again and it’s thanks to these feathered celebs …Cate Blanchett, Diane Kruger, Kate Bosworth, and Beyoncé.
These ladies were obviously wearing this on fancy evening attire, but my calendar seems to be missing red carpet events for the next few months. To rock the trend is real life, opt for a feathered accessory. A dressy little clutch is a great option because you can pair it with jeans and a tee, or wear to a wedding. Plus, it will be one fun detailed piece that elevates your outfit and will have major staying power since any age can pull off a feather clutch. Or snag a feathered dress for an upcoming wedding.
H&M’s Conscious Collection is kind of a HUGE deal. It’s cute, affordable, and they’re made from sustainable materials such as organic cotton, recycled polyester, and hemp. Ginnifer Goodwin just wore one of the line’s gowns to the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. How cool is that?
Belts are a must for any fashionista. They cinch you in and highlight your skinniest part… how fab is that?! What’s not fab is extra beltage just hanging on the side. It ruins the look, but one bobby pin is all it takes to save the day.
New videos are up every Friday. For more budget-style tips follow me on Twitter & Facebook. Comment below and share your tips, dilemma, and make requests for what you’d like to see in an upcoming video.
The lovely and fashionable Whitney Port (reality star, author, designer) just launched a new line exclusively for Apricot Lane called WE by Whitney Eve. It’s more affordable than her past designs and perfect for the upcoming months.
I had the chance to sit and chat with her at the launch event, a Garden Tea Party at Apricot Lane Suburban Square. Part 2 of the interview will be up tomorrow!
I had such an AMAZING time at her tea party. There was the best raspberry iced tea, yummy desserts, and even tea sandwiches. Plus Whitney is such a sweetheart in person (and so gorgeous!). Whitney even posted a pic of she and me on her blog (I’m super excited!!). See for yourself on her blog.
Maxi skirts can seem a little intimidating, but you can wear it and in more ways than one. I snagged mine at a Loehmann’s blogger event and it’s such a find. It was $40, and I make it do double duty as a dress.
