Exclusive: Kohl’s Fall 2013 Fashion Preview

I hate to be the one bringing up Fall Fashion in the middle of summer, but ladies – it’s never too early to start preparing for the next season! Trend Hungry had the chance to get an exclusive preview of what Kohl’s has to offer for fall and we are DYING to give you the 411 on what’s out there! Whether it’s the start of a new school year, a new job, or a crazy adventure; you better be ready to fashionably rock and roll into any situation!
EMBELLISHMENTS, STUDS and PRINTS is where it’s at! Rock & Republic, Call It Spring and Jennifer Lopez’s collections are perfect for school, work, and our favorite … PLAY TIME!
Hi this is Trend Hungry and we’re here to give you a personal forecast for what your closet can be expecting in the fall season:

1. Rock & Republic Black Laser Cutout Tee ($44)

How amazing is this detailed tee? Pair it with jeans, a colorful blazer, flats if you’re running around to class or heels if you’re a young professional and perfection- your outfit is complete! This tee is available in August, so it’s wearable in every season, for every occasion, not to mention it’s super cute!

2. Rock & Republic Camo Leggings ($48)

If you didn’t get the memo, CAMO is back! Well, it never really left but you don’t want to be the only person NOT rocking camouflage. These leggings will hit stores in September and are great for a ladies night out or cheering on your football team! Camo leggings + studded wedges + a white button up= #1 fall fashionista.

3. Jennifer Lopez Embellished Sweatshirt ($48)

How cute is this sweatshirt?! The reason we love it so much is because it’s versatile, comfy and practical. The embellishments on the sleeves allow it to be as casual as you want or as formal as you can make it. Hitting stores in September, it’s perfect for a quick trip to the gym, grabbing coffee with friends on a lazy Sunday or keeping it cool with Casual Fridays at the office.

4. Call It Spring Riding  Boots ($98)

image001

It’s time to get your street grunge on! These boots are a must have and essential for your every day life. Stand out amongst the masses with these killer studded riding boots that match great with jeans, skirts or shorts. You can get so much wear out of these boots, I don’t know why you wouldn’t get them!

5. Call It Spring Scadlock Booties ($75)

image003

Elevate your style a tad with these fun booties. These unique, detailed shoes are tame enough to rock to the office or your internship but funky enough to rock to a concert or your friend’s basement party. Let these booties bring the crazy, rocker out of you…plus, they’ll totally get everyone’s attention because they look unlike anything that’s in stores!

6.  Jennifer Lopez Jeweled Sheath Dress

Jennifer Lopez Look 6

If you were looking to add color to your wardrobe, well – here you go! This dress is a must have because it’s sexy, will grab everyone’s attention (in a good way),  and is super funky. Try with patterned heels or nude wedges. The jewels on the neckline draw enough attention, so skip out on accessory overdose!

Well, there you have it! Six pieces we think will give you tons of wear, won’t kill your wallet and will have heads turning all season!! Be sure to stop by Kohl’s in the fall to snatch up these pieces and CallItSpring.com right now to grab those fab boots!

What are you most excited about rocking this fall?

Friday Find: MNG Textured Jacket, aka Your New Spring Necessity

What a fabulous Friday! This is the kickoff of the new column, Friday Find! Every other week I’ll be sharing my #1 pick from a week of shopping and scoping out the stores (I’m a window-shopping addict!). Each week the find will fit a skinny budget and will about be so good you’ll want to buy it right on the spot! I know this because I’ll only be featuring the items that I literally felt I COULD NOT LIVE WITHOUT, paired with a price tag fit for my frugal ways. Even though I blog about clothes, shoes, bags, and beauty, I don’t buy a ton. I’m very select with my purchases (momma works hard for her money honey!) and that’s why I decided to add Friday Find to the blog. I want to show you what I find worth purchasing and I’m starting off with a jacket I’ve managed to wear practically daily since buying.

Here’s the the jacket styled with ahigh-low dress and topped with an infinity scarf fit for an on-camera appearance and a busy day of meetings around NYC.

And over jeans and a tee shirt for a personal shopping appointment – comfy for scouring clothing racks but fashionable enough when styling a client. (sorry it’s blurry!)

STYLING TIP: Wear over a maxi dress to add structure, warmth, and polish to your look.

4 TV Shows Worth Watching for Outfit Inspiration

Stop only looking to your favorite magazine for outfit ideas. Instead, turn to the tube. TV shows offer up a whole range of style. Here are five I watch just for that.

mad men style

1. Mad Men. This show is all about authenticity to the time period the show is set in, the early 1960′s. Estee Lauder did limited-edition Mad Men makeup two seasons in a row in line with the season premiere. Retro packaging with makeup to match. Are you a Joan or a Betty?

girls hbo fashion trends

 2. Girls. The show is a little too, wait, a lot too hipster, but some of the styles are pretty cool. Marnie’s sexy hostess uniform with the clip-on suspenders? Loved it! And Shoshanna’s weird hairdos do inspire me to pin them on my hair board on Pinterest.

the carrie diaries fashion

 3. The Carrie Diaries. The show hasn’t lived up to the hype, but the clothes are still cool. It’s Carrie Bradshaw in the early 80′s. It’s pretty fab for stylish workwear only the young professional can pull off.

Pretty Little Liars outfits

4. Pretty Little Liars. I’m 25 and love watching these high schoolers try to solve the whole “A” mystery while prancing around in trendy items  my high school would have never allowed. What high school allowed spaghetti straps??

In The Bag: Philly Blogger ‘Streets and Stripes’ Mobile Essentials

Ever wonder what a blogger totes around?  Chaucee, the creative behind popular Philly blog Streets and Stripes gave us a peek inside her mobile office. Her work moves with her, as she’s always snapping style pics and covering fabulous Philly events. And if you haven’t heard of Streets & Stripes, take a look! You’ll see Philly through her lens. – Jessie

1. iPhone – The Blogger’s Dream Phone. This guy doesn’t go without me anywhere. It’s how I check my email, play Pandora, check Twitter, and waste time on Instagram. #MacForLife!
2. On Writing Well - I always bring reading material because I never know when I’ll get a minute to myself! Currently reading this book on improving writing skills.
3. Mini Moleskin – For all those random ideas that come at the most inconvenient times!
4. Wallet – This bad boy as a gift from a friend. It has so many inside organizers that I’ll never go back to a smaller wallet! Also is great in self-defense.
5. Lip Gloss - I always keep either chapstick or lipgloss on hand at all times, especially during the winter! I love soft pink shades for a natural look.
6. Reading Glasses – Well….for the book!
7. My Camera – Okay, well that’s not actually my camera in the picture (as I was using it to take the photo) but I always keep my handy Canon 7d on hand to document life in the city!

Trend Bite: We’re Teaming Up With LuLu*s!! How To Wear Spring Trends Now

Hello and happy Friday! It’s NYFW!!! Every season my inbox gets a few more invites than the season before, so I’m pretty bummed I didn’t block out time on my schedule to attend all the fun stuff, but I’m just thankful to be invited!

Life’s been busy, yet fabulous! And, you may notice that this is my second video with LuLu*s. Well, it’s going to be an on-going thing. I’m beyond excited, seeing as it’s literally one of my favorite shopping destinations! I feature them all the time in my TV segments and it’s because they carry all the top trends on a budget. I feel like LuLu*s was made for me … and I’m not just saying that.

This vid is pretty fitting for the season. Like I said, it’s FASHION WEEK! We’re all trying to keep up with the Jones’ of fashion. And even though this week is all about the following season, style peeps are dressed to impress with the latest spring trends. So, we made this quick vid to showcase a few of my favorite spring styles with the chilly temps in mind. So, do wear pastel, but don’t wear flip flops (I literally saw a girl wearing flip flops the other day and it was snowing out… seriously??).  Okay, that being said, in look 3 I’m barefoot. To be fair, I thought my feet weren’t in the shot.

Disclosure: All the LuLu*s items were gifted. All opinions are my own. I work with LuLu*s because I’m a HUGE fan, for realz.

The Sale-Rack Skinny: The Style Wallflower

Today I’m in NYC for the IFBCon!! So, I enlisted my Philly FABB sis and new blog friend Jade to take over Trend Hungry for the day. She’s got great eclectic style and knows how to keep it cheap and chic. Plus she loves thrifting – love that!! Oh, and if you’re a Philly girl, like me and Jade, check out these 5 vintage hot spots I scouted out for Philly.com. Okay, without further adieu, I bring you THE Style Wallflower! – Jessie

the srs

Hello everyone! My name is Jade Barnes and I am a lifestyle public relations specialist by day & the Style Wallflower by night. I enjoy writing about celebrity style, current trends and local Philadelphia fashion events. I am very excited to share my “ball on a budget” shopping tips with the Trend Hungry Community. Now let’s get to saving.

Research your local thrift stores. I used to live in Society Hill and near adorable vintage boutiques on Fabric Row and Passyunk Ave. Two of my favorite stores included Philly AIDS Thrift and Retrospect. I was able to find gorgeous sequined tunics and silk shirts for a fraction of what the retail price would have been. Vintage finds are always my favorite!

Don’t buy only for the sale. Just because the sale is $9.99 doesn’t mean buy before you try: Zara is having a major sale right now and I must have walked into the fitting room with at least six items, but left with half of them. Trying on pieces that have slashed price tags will help you see if you REALLY need these items and if they fit you properly. I left Zara with black and white blouses appropriate for work and on trend for Spring 2013. I felt happy to be on trend and happy to have only spent $25 on three items! Continue Reading

The Sale-Rack Skinny: The Skinny Blonde Girl

Hey, fabulous Trend Hungry readers! It’s Katelyn here from www.theskinnyblondegirl.com, a blog that offers a chic Canadian perspective on personal style, makeup, beauty, and just about everything in between. I’m so honored to be posting today on Trend Hungry and am very excited to share with you some online shopping advice and the latest deals I’ve scoped out on my favorite shopping sites.

the sale rack skinny

When I’m shopping online, I always hit up the sale and clearance sections first. While shopping in store is fun, I love that I can grab my favorite trends without breaking the bank and without leaving my couch. I usually stick to neutrals because A) I have a weakness for anything black and white and B) they’re way less likely to go out of style within the next few seasons. Continue Reading

Trend Bite: 7 Ways To Wear 1 Vegan Leather Skirt From LuLu*s

If you’re an avid reader of Trend Hungry, then you know I love LuLu*s. I so often look there when planning a TV segment, and it’s because they always carry cool pieces you’d typically find at a pricey boutique, but they’re at a good price point. I also really love their blog and I’m thrilled to be sharing the this week’s Trend Bite because I teamed up with LuLu*s to bring you one vegan leather skirt, seven ways and this video will be on LuLu.com’s blog as well!

This skirt is a favorite of mine. After featuring it on a recent TV segment , I got the idea of showing many ways to style this trendy staple piece.

I used items I already owned when styling the looks. A few fun pieces I threw it were a vintage hat, a rocker tee, a bulky sweater, vintage cocktail rings, and a flannel shirt to name a few. The heart sweater and the infinity scarf are items I own from LuLu*s.
