Beat the Heat: 8 No Sweat Beauty Products You Need This Summer

All of us have been there, those humid days when you HAVE to be outside (for a wedding, a party, a family reunion, whatever) and your makeup doesn’t make it past the first 20 minutes. Soon you find yourself a sweaty mess, complete with clumping or cakey foundation, melting liner, and sticky lips. This, ladies, is the summer face melt. Yikes.

I can’t be the only one who is struggling to keep it together in this crazy summer heat. Being hot, sticky, and uncomfortable only irritates me, but luckily I’ve found some solutions to staying pretty and preventing the classic (and all too familiar) “face melt” of summer beauty. Hey, at least now we have long lasting, humidity proof makeup to be happy about, right?!

1. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB 8-in-1 Beauty Balm Skin Perfector SPF 30, $7.19. We’ve already discussed the magic of BB creams, but these really come in handy during the summer heat. One product, one application, and one easy step to a smooth, even, fresh face. Being a multi-tasking product really helps, so you don’t have to layer on moisturizer, primer, and foundation (which tend to cake up and melt in the heat). The SPF will keep you protected from those harmful UVs!

2. Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Customer Bronzer Blush & Eye Shadow, $9.19. This lightweight compact is a triple threat of bronzer, blush and shadow. The light reflecting properties of shimmery shades of golden tans and browns are perfect for a long-lasting beachy glow and don’t require layers of application.

3. Too Faced Shadow Insurance Primer, $20.00. The name says it all! Insure your lids with this sweat-proof primer. Shadows and liners will stay on all day without worry, and this primer consistently gets top knotch reviews; definitely worth the 20 dollar investment!

4. Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner, $18.00. Known for her tattoos, Ms. Von D’s liner is almost as permanent. This stuff really sticks, throughout the heat, water and whatever else you’ll be getting into this summer, this is your liner! With it’s exact precision and durability, you can even use it to create temporary tattoos!
5. Maybelline Full N’ Soft Waterproof Mascara, $7.99. For all of those waterproof mascaras out there that I’ve tried, this one has to be my favorite. Lashes stay long and full even after water exposure.
6. Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butter, $7.49. This conditioning tinted lip balm is neither thick nor sticky and provides just enough color to make your lips pop. If you’ve already got your summer tan going, shades of orange (try Tutti Frutti) reeaaally pop against tanned skin!
7. The Body Shop Vitamin C Energizing Face Spritz, $18.00. If the heat is really bringing ya down, lightly spritz face and neck with this Vitamin C power packed solution. It’ll Instantly wake you up and refresh without disturbing your makeup.
Quick Tip:Throw in the fridge on an extra-hot day for a quick cool down.
8. Clean & Clear Instant Oil Absorbing Sheets, $4.49. Hands down the best product to have if you get shiny! These mini miracle sheets blot away shine and oil (yes, and sweat) to get you back to a matte-looking finish.
There will be plenty of heat waves coming, now you’ll be able to ride them out without looking like a hot mess.

Do you have any must-have products for the summer to ward off face melt?! I’d love to know, I’m always on the lookout. Comment and share your faves!

beauty buys

By Simone of Fashion Runs The World

In need of some new product to spruce up your beauty routine? We’ve scouted out the latest and greatest from the drugstore sure to kickstart your beauty routine into the warm temps. And like we said, all these goodies are from the drugstore so  you don’t have to break the bank to snag the latest and greatest. You can get all of these products for under $15. What a wonderful way to begin to add beauty on a budget!

 Lips

I love lipsticks. I think lipsticks and lip gloss can up the amp of an outfit or pull a makeup look together. It’s a must have for any fashionista or makeup connoisseur’s collection. Yet, buying a lot of lip products adds up. Even though I’m a fan of MAC, Urban Decay, Nars, and many others; too many of those names hurt my wallet over time. Thank goodness, drugstore lip products have been stepping their game up!

1. An essential before applying any type of lipstick or lip stain is a good lip moisturizer. While there are many good ones on the market, I personally think the best one is the Baby Lips by Maybelline. This lip balm that comes in six hydrating shades. After using the product for a few days, my lips became softer and moisturized. Add protection with SPF 20 infused into each balm, which makes this product a great investment in your makeup arsenal.

2. Recently, Maybelline released a new addition to their color sensational family called Color Whispers. This collection offers 20 new shades that are perfect for the springtime, like Oh La Lilac, which is a beautiful light purple. These lipsticks have a glossy finish and offer lots of color selections ranging from pink to coral and everything in between.

3. Okay, one more thing from the Maybelline family are the Color Sensational Vivids lip color. Unlike their counterpart (the color whispers), these lipsticks are more pigmented and brighter. The color selections for this collection are a little smaller (choosing between ten shades as oppose to 20), but the finish is still same. Their colors range from hot pink to purple and even orange. My personal favorite is the Vibrant Mandarin lip color, which is a beautiful orange-red shade that is very in this season.

4. Lastly for the lips, this one is for all my ladies who don’t like to wear lipstick. L’Oreal has released their Colour Riche Caresse Aqua Lacquer lip gloss which is more like a lip stain than a lip gloss. There are 12 shades in this collection and we like all of them (that never happens!!).

Face

Now that the weather is getting a little warmer outside, wearing foundation can look and feel heavy. Nobody wants to go outside when it’s sunny and hot and fear that their makeup will melt off. Good thing lots of makeup brands have come up with a solution for a light-weight foundation or cream.

5. Covergirl came out with their new 3-in-1 foundation, which acts as a primer, foundation and concealer all in one. This new foundation is having all of the beauty vloggers going crazy. This new formula eliminates piling on facial creams.

6. Another facial product that is good for the spring is the beauty balm or BB cream as they are referred too. One of the best ones on the market is the Maybelline New York Dream Fresh BB cream. This product is an 8-in-1 skin perfector that blurs imperfections, brightens and evens skin tone, smoothes, and hydrates, enhances, protects with SPF 30, and has 0% oils and heavy ingredients in it.

Hair

7. The ombre hair trend took over last year and is staying strong. Everyone from Jessica Alba to Lea Michele is rocking the trend. Fortunately, women everywhere don’t have to run to the salon and  spend $50 or more to get this look. L’Oreal Paris have added a Wild Ombre kit to their Feria collection. This kit retails for only $12 at Target and offers only three shades that work with natural or color treated hair: 080 for light to medium blonde hair, 070 for dark blonde to light brown or strawberry red hair, and 060 for medium to dark brown or auburn hair.

You can find all of these products online or at your local drugstore. The prices may vary but almost all the brands I mentioned have coupons you can use, so you can stock up on all these wonderful products.

Quick Tip: Head to Target! Every product featured is cheaper there (hence why we listed them as each retailer!!).

Happy Shopping!

Trend Bite: How To Get Ready In Under 2 Minutes (PopSugar Exclusive!)

http://youtu.be/UtQOsd3Q1Nc

Hello and Happy Friday! By the end of the week I am exhausted and care slightly less about my appearance. That means I’ll hit the snooze button a few too many times and will be left with no time to get ready. That’s why I have a hyper-speed process so I can be out the door in minutes. I’m not saying this is my preferred method (which would be having a team of people on hair, makeup, wardrobe, dare to dream!) but it gets me looking acceptable to face society without wasting time. I used this method earlier this week when I overslept an hour for an audition, so I highly recommend having an abridged routine down to a science.

Trend Hungry is a PopSugar Partner on YouTube, so that means every so often we create videos exclusive for the PopSugar Partner Channel.

P.S. Here’s info on BB vs CC Cream, since this product is perfect for doing your makeup quickly.

Beauty Battle: BB Cream vs CC Cream

Calling all beauty buffs! When deciding the quickest, easiest, and most effective way to knock out your skin routine on one easy step, what product comes to mind? I’m guessing most of you thought of my favorite magical solution for perfect a complexion: BB cream! There could be some of you out there who have yet to discover this beauty gem, or have discovered it and still not entirely sure what it does. As most of us are still getting used to the wonders of BB (or “beauty balm”), the beauty world is already prepping for a new craze for the complexion perfection obsessed: CC cream.

bb vs cc cream

First thing’s first, our ever-growing love with BB cream. Combining moisturizer, primer, foundation, and sunblock, this single-step cream is the be all and end all for a fast way to a beautiful, even complexion.

A wide spectrum of brands have created their own formulas and cater to all ages and skin types. Whether you want to cover acne marks, conceal brown spots, or just want an all around even glow, BB has you covered.

So now that we’ve got you hooked, I’m sure you’re wondering what could get any better?

Enter CC cream, the super-sized version of BB. CC (“color care” or “color correcting”) cream is essentially a hit sequel to BB. This light weight formula does all the jobs of a BB, but also includes powerful anti-aging and skin correcting ingredients (like B vitamins). Olay was the first brand to give CC it’s American debut. The cream can visibly improve discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles over time (score!). Although just breaking through to American markets, if anything can be said from the BB boom, we’re looking forward to a serious CC craze.

So now the question is, BB or CC?! Heres a breakdown to make this as easy as possible for you….

Texture: While both are lightweight creams, the effects vary depending on your skin type. BB cream is slightly thicker, and most are not oil free (okay for combination or dry skin). The oil free formula (and a more mousse-like texture) of CC is a better option for those of you with oily or acne prone skin.

Color: Both creams tend to come in light, medium, or dark shades. Since CC is lighter texture, it is easier to blend and therefore suitable for a wider range of skin colors.

Benefits: The sunblock in both creams are an obvious, and very important ingredient which has long-term benefits for all ages. If you struggle (like most of us) to remember the sunblock, these creams are essential for everyday. CC creams go beyond temporary and their ingredients offer long-term benefits for aging and uneven complexions.

So now that you’re up to date on BB and CC, which cream do you think will come out on top?
