{Trend Hungry Tuesday} Black Friday Deals

It’s that time of year again. Black Friday is filled with steals and deals. Why bother to leave home when you can snag all these deals from your computer?  For this sale roundup I’m breaking it down by category and each has a celebrity tie-in. Ready?

Taylor Swift makes headlines this week for her cover look and interview with Asos magazine, coming out tomorrow.  Not only is she posing in the clothes, but she frequently wears the brand. Score styles from Asos for a deal,  30% off site wide and up to 70% off sale items. Also, how fab is this dress?!?

For holiday bling on a budget check out Bauble Bar for 15% off when you buy two items, 25% off when you buy three, and 35% off any four.

These double-sided earrings that look a whole lot like a pair of Dior studs Rihanna was spotted wearing.

Rita Hazan is the hair colorist to the stars. She’s behind the famous tresses of many celebs including J.Lo, Katy Perry, and Beyonce. For Black Friday her products will be 25% off. There’s a great spray-on root concealer that works wonders on getting some extra time out of your hair color. Want to try a trendy hair color? There’s a spray for that too, Pop Color.

Another celebrity favorite is Lip Tar by Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics. This stained lip gloss goes feels like satin and is 100% vegan. OCC will be offering 20% off site wide, so a Lip Tar that’s $18 will come to about $14.50. If you were wondering, Lucy Hale has been known to rock Lip Tar on the red carpet.

{Trend Hungry Tuesday} Falling For Fur Collars

Today is the first full day of fall and this season is all about the layers and playing up textures. One texture that’s back every year when cool weather comes is fur and at Trend Hungry we opt for the faux variety. It’s cheap, chic, and doesn’t hurt the cute furry critters we love so much.

Kim Kardashian West recently stepped out in an orange fur stole atop her coat to board a flight and she’s not the only celebrity who accessorizes with fur. Ariana Grande, J.Lo,  Rihanna, and Rita Ora have all rocked the fur collar trend.

Celebs may drop serious bank on their furry fashions, but you certainly don’t have to. In fact, Asos has a fur collar on sale right now for under $12. Wear over a blazer, trench, leather jacket, or pea coat and add a little fur to your look in an instant.

{Shop It} Asos Faux Fur Short Collar,  $38.09 $11.43 // Forever 21 Faux Fur Collar Coat, $57.90  //Missguided Rebel Long Faux Fur Collar Grey $24.68.

{Steal of the Week} ASOS Sweater That Covers Your Butt

If you live in the US, there is a pretty solid chance that you’re in some sort of a polar vortex right now. Where all you can do is layer up sweaters, socks and drink like four lattes a day to stay warm. Unless you happen to live in Denver, like myself, where it’s supposed to be a balmy 55 degrees today. (Don’t hate me!) Truth be told, I’d rather it be cold so I could wear sweaters

If you’re looking for a sweater to cover your booty (every girl need one!) so you can wear leggings outside without feeling awkward or cover a  So when I found this long cardigan on ASOS for more than 60% off I just had to share it with you guys!

Take note: gray sizes are limited.

Just be careful if it’s sub-zero, you’ll absolutely need some wool tights and tall boots to finish this outfit, or try a turtleneck underneath. Snag this for under $35 at ASOS. If you’re feeling like a shopping spree is in order, save $10 on your order over $100 when you enter code USWELCOME at checkout (only for new customers). Happy shopping!

{Shop the Style} Radiant Orchid: 2014 Color of the Year

Meet Jessica Steele.  She the blogging babe behind The Steele Maiden and is a new contributor here. This week she brings us style finds in radiant orchid on a budget.  – Jessie

It’s looking like 2014 is going to be a radiant year,  at least in terms of color. Pantone dubs Radiant Orchid the official color of 2014 and there are already plenty of options available in this bright-purple hue.  Try the color in small doses with a fresh new manicure or a fun, oversized cocktail ring.  Or go all out with a pair of skinny jeans or curve-flaunting ruffle skirt.  This color will most likely be popping up all over in the next year, so get a jump start on the trend now.

Trendy vs Spendy: Spiked Bracelets

Who wears their heart on their sleeve anymore? With punk and grunge being haute for fall 2013, a little spike will go a long way in your wardrobe. Layer with other bracelets or keep it simple with just one.

I own a similar bracelet from Forever 21 and wear it on the regular. I love it layered with my favorite watch to give a sophisticated with a trendy and edgy twist. I’ve worn it with flannel, a plain tee, or even a floral frock.

Trendy: Asos Spike Stretch Bracelet $13.50 $5.40 at Asos.

Spendy: Mercy Spike Bracelet $185 at Piperlime.

Now tell the truth. Could you really tell which was trendy vs spendy? Let us know in the comments below!

Style Transition: 10 Pieces to Buy Now and Wear for Fall

fall fashion 2013

I don’t know about you but I hate when you buy clothes and they’re only wearable for one season. ONE SEASON? If I love a certain shirt or pair of shorts, I want to be able to rock them year round or at the least wear it through a season or two.

10 Pieces to Buy Now

Labor Day is next week which means summer is about to basically call it quits! September is sure to bring some warm, comfortable weather but we must prepare for some serious layering for those chilly nights. Instead of investing in a pair of open toed wedges or capris, let’s start thinking about items to buy and wear now, but totally rock in the fall!

Here are 10 items to buy now and rock next season!

1. Ankle Boots

ankle boots

Ankle Boots look super cute with ripped denim shorts and a graphic tee or are perfect for a night on the town with pleated shorts, a tank top and blazer. These Rock and Republic Ankle Boots on sale for $59.99 will surely get the job done.

2. Scarves

fall 2013 scarf

Air conditioning is probably the best invention ever but can also be a pain when you’re dressed for summer days and stuck in the office. I’m loving this Nordstroms Hinge ‘Wanderer’ Red Cayenne Scarf (18.98) that can spice up any look and keep you warm in the office.

3. Chambray Shirts

You can never go wrong with denim. Trust me. Try this LC Lauren Conrad Faded Chambray Shirt for only $15.40. Chambray shirts never go out of style and can over a tank top in the summer or be layered under a blazer in the fall.

4. Leather Skirts

leather skirt under $20

You’ll turn heads in the summer and continue to turn heads in the fall. I know the first thing you’re thinking is that leather is extremely hot- but a skirt matched with a bustier top and open toed heels will make the perfect lounge outfit in the summer. This Olsenboye Faux-Leather Contrast Skirt is $18.99 can definitely seal the deal! Try the summer look topped with a blazer and boom- you’ve got a fall look ready to go!

5. Flatforms

I love flatforms because they’re easy to walk in, extremely comfortable and not too intimidating. These ASOS Black Bingo Leather Pointed Flatforms with Ankle Strap for $37.97 look great with shorts and a tee and blend beautifully with a maxi dress, jean jacket and designer socks. Trust me…the socks and flatforms combo is an A+!

6. Pleated Shorts

pleated shorts Dressing for work in the summer can sometimes be challenging…what’s too short? Is this too revealing? Do I look like a highlighter?

Pleated shorts are the perfect solution to looking professional and season appropriate.  Match a graphic blouse with these Jessica Simpson Pleated Breeze shorts ($10.56) in the summer and try the same for the fall with nude tights underneath.

7. Bomber Jackets

Bomber Jackets are the perfect item to wear from season to season. This Derek Lam for DesigNation Solid Bomber Jacket ($28) can be draped over a maxi dress, matched with a blouse and pencil skirt, or worn with pants and a tank top.

8. Sleeveless Blouse

sleeveless blouse Check out this Mossimo Sleeveless Woven Shirt Blouse for $19.99. It’s unique, quirky ,and has a personality of its own. Rock it with a skirt in the summer or jeans and a cardigan for the fall. Did we mention the florals are HUGE this fall? Well, they are!

9. Little Black Dress

little black dress

Why does everyone try to avoid dark colors in the summer? You can never go wrong with a little black dress. This BB Dakota Oscar Dress ($48) will compliment a bold colored necklace or bright wedges in the summer or can be toned down with black pumps and a neutral blazer for the fall.

10. Converse Sneakers

Everyone should invest in a pair of Chuck Taylors. Whether high or low top, they’re classic, unisex, and literally go with anything.

So what are you dying to add to your wardrobe?! Let us know in the comments below!

Workwear: Shorts for the Office

shorts for work

It’s been crazy hot out. It’s the kind of hot here in Philly that makes every movement feel in slow motion. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s hard to operate at full steam when you’re covered in sweat. Skip the maxi shirt and show some skin.

1. High-Waist & Highly Productive

The high-waist cut is great for tucking in a blouse and feels dressed up thanks to the pleating, cuffs, and belt loops.

ASOS High Waisted Shorts with Notch Detail, $33.94 at Asos.

2. Linen Lifestyle

Comfy, breathable , not too tight or too constricting… and they come in four colors – white, black, dark chambray, and washed flax (an oatmeal hue).

Caslon Drawstring Linen Shorts, $49 at Nordstrom.

3. Pleated Prints

This is one short you won’t have to worry about your coworker wearing. These take some confidence, but are still modest in that you’re butt in covered and you’re keeping cool. Save the mesh top for  the club and only dare to wear if you’re in a creative field.

WAYF Pleated Print Shorts, $48 $28.80 at Nordstrom.

4. Appropriate Animal Print

Tommy Hilfiger Short, Animal-Print Cuffed

The structured fit and small print tones down this wild trend, making it fashion forward without looking overdone.

Tommy Hilfiger Short, Animal-Print Cuffed, $59.50 $24.95 at Macy’s.

5. Cargo at the Cubicle

sale shorts: Liz Claiborne Cargo Shorts

This cargo works because it’s got clean lines. Skip those old cargo shorts from American Eagle for work and look for something that feels more put together. Did I mention chartreuse is one of my favorite colors? It will compliment your faux glow for sure.

Liz Claiborne Twill Cargo Shorts, $27 $19.99 at JCPenney.

Step Into Spring: 5 Must-Have Shoes Under $50

5 must-have shoes for spring 2013 under $50
Must Have Spring Shoes

Your tax return should already be sitting pretty in your bank account (if not yet, then very soon!) and it’s time to upgrade those shoes! Moving forward, there’s no room for complaints anymore! Vacays, beach weather, picnics, and partying are so close we can smell it! Memorial Day will be here before you know it, so let’s jump the gun and avoid last minute shopping!

Let’s take a peek into 5 must-have shoes that will have you ready for every possible spring occasion for under $50!

Boat Shoes

Faux Patent Boat Shoes

Classic, comfy and give you the right balance of preppy. Matched with a polo and shorts or capris or a long jersey dress, boat shoes work best if you’re not quite ready to debut those toenails or are predicting lots of standing. We found a pair from Forever 21 for only $19.80 and they also come in pink! Stick with classic solid colors for a refined look or opt for bright shoes to jazz up your look!

Leather Sandals

Love, love….LOVE!!! I have never been a fan of my feet, so my motto is “the more distracting shoe….the better!” Wide strapped leather sandals are the perfect medicine for people with the “ugly feet” syndrome because they’re easy to slip on, are attention grabbing yet not too in your face, and can be worn for work or play! These metallic flat sandals from ASOS  are only $46.55 and have an adjustable strap in the back to ensure a proper fit.

Ankle Straps

rihanna in ankle strap sandals, look for less

Rihanna loves ankle strap heels and we have to admit- so do we! They’re simple, elegant and practically go with everything! Match a pair of Prabal Gurung for Target heels for $39.99  with rolled up boyfriend jeans and a white tank (with a matte red lip) and you’re ready for a lazy Sunday cookout or brunch!

Bright, in your face colors is a trend that’s resurfaced tremendously in shoes and bags within the past year. If you’re going to rock neon shoes, I say lean towards flats because neon in itself is…well- REALLY LOUD! Lime, yellow and pink are popular colors in this trend and I love them all together. These ballet flats from Charlotte Russe are only $17.50 and I can only imagine how cute they’d look with a solid-colored sun dress!

XOXO Shoes, Frida Wedge Sandals

Floral+Wedges= Spring. This is by far my favorite look for spring. XOXO floral wedges run for $49 and would complete a white tee and short overalls outfit or a bustier with capris look.
What do you think? What shoe can’t you live without for spring?

SRS: Hit The Sale Rack With StyledOutLoud

srs styledoutloud

Hello there, Trend Hungry readers! My name is Mecca Nuri – a Philadelphia wardrobe stylist and blog owner of StyledOutLoud. I just want to thank Jessie for granting me the opportunity to share with you my sale-shopping strategies as well as my favorite sale items of right now!

I am usually not an online shopper; I tend to stick to the good old fashioned in-store experience. However for sale purposes I have been checking out the virtual racks. What stores are on my radar, you ask? As of lately I enjoy ASOS, JC Penney and Urban Outfitters. Here are a few sale-shopping strategies I go by when making purchases, be it online or in-store:

  • DO know your budget. Prior to your shopping experience, make sure that you come up with a budget for your sale shopping and stick to it.
  • DON’T get sale/clearance happy. Sometimes we find so many awesome items that are marked down and naturally, we get excited. Remember that you have a budget so try to make sensible purchases.
  • DO look for student discounts. Not a student? Then see how else you can save by using coupon code websites such as RetailMeNot.com. Continue reading…
