Jeweled Hair Accessories Pretty Enough for Oscar Night

Not sure what do with your mop of hair for Oscar night? Don’t forget,  the 86th Academy Awards is this Sunday. Here’s one thing that’s easy, your hair. Just add a hair accessory. No matter your plans, dress code, or hairstyle choice (chilling on the couch with a topknot or at a fancy affair with curls), a hair accessory will add a little sparkle and elevate your look. Drab to fab, darling!

Your hair can be down, up, braided, swept to the side, curled, straight, whatever.  At Last year’s Oscars, Selma Hayek, Nicole Kidman, and Sandra Bullock opted for jeweled hair accessories.

Other celebs we’ve seen opt for hair bling include Zooey Deschanel, Selena Gomez, and Nicole Richie.

So where should you go to buy some hair bling on a budget? Claire’s! Accessory overload, this cheap-chic store is stuffed with affordable fashions and has slew of pretty hair accessories. It’s extra hot right now. Katy Perry has a line coming out with Claire’s and her bestie Rihanna  is a fan of the brand too. She revealed in  Vogue’s March issue that all her jewelry is fake and a lot of it is from Claire’s.  Head to the Party Hair section of their site to see the sparkly pieces. It’s BOGO – buy one, get one half off.

8 Gifts for the Parisian Princess on a Budget

Parisian Presents
Have a friend that prays for a Parisian lifestyle or are you the gal that longs for a trip to Paris? If you’re Parisian at heart or long to be, then read on. I enlisted an expert in French fashion. Her name is Chloe Johnston and she’s made Parisian style her job, with her business CJ Tours that takes tourists around Paris to shop like the locals do  – genius! Here’s Chloe’s picks for the Parisian-chic that don’t want to go broke. – Jessie
Christmas in Paris is magical. Whether you are Parisian, Parisian at heart, the holidays are the perfect time to get that special someone under the mistletoe, literally or well, you know! It is also a time to feel extra special.  These eight items put us in the mood!

1. Ambre Sultan Fragrance, $120 $58.66.

Serge Luten is one of my favorite fragrant spots in Paris. I wasn’t thrilled when they started selling them in the States (that’s my little secret). Even though they do have certain scents that can only be found in Paris in their tiny, yet beautiful atelier, there are now places here you can purchase. Ambre Sultan Fragrance is one of their top sellers, and it’s unlikely you’ll find it for a better price. It’s also unisex.

2. Petits RICHART Balsam Gourmet Chocolates, $25.00.

Chocolate from Paris is always mouthwatering goodness. There isn’t much else to say.

3. Nina’s Paris Marie Antoinette Tea, $25.00.

Even if you are not a tea drinker per say, you MUST try some of the fabulous choices that Paris has to offer. Marriages Frères and Dammann Frères are two of our favorite spots – we are currently drooling over their Noel (tea) and my absolute favorites right now are Caramel Toffee and Black Orchid…ahhhh, delish! Le Notre currently has three holiday teas created by a famous sommelier in Paris; we cannot WAIT to try them. Nina’s Teas are sold here in the States. Try and tell us what you think!
Jewelry is on every girl’s wish list. We love finding unique pieces you can’t find anywhere else and the bonus for us? Handmade! Every piece tells a story and when you can speak with the designer and get the inspiration behind the design, tres parfait! Habsa’s shop is located in the Trendy 6th arrondisment and she uses leathers and metals in a way you’d never think to combine. CJ PLUG- you can find and shop Hasba and other of your favorite designers on our shopping site (linked on the product name above).

5. CHRISTYS’ CROWN SERIES Phoebe Cloche Hat, $65.

Just like everyone else out there, I am obsessed with hats. The only difference? My love affair has been going on for years. I ALWAYS find the best hats in Paris whether they are new or vintage. My newest burgundy beauty was purchased at my favorite vintage shop in the 7th. Luckily hats are back in style and you can find some great French inspired ones perfect for any look.

6. de Buyer Crêpe Pan Kit, $39.95.

For the kitchen fanatic….Dehillerin foodies (cooker) Paradise!  All price points can be met here. You cannot find Dehillerin here in the states BUT, Williams Sonoma and Kitchen Capers can help you feel just like you are throwing that little dinner party or brunch, in your oh-so-chic little Paris flat, especially with this crepe pan!

7. PORTOLANO Black And Ivory Striped Cashmere ITouch Gloves, $90 $45.90.

French women LOVE cashmere, especially for the colder months. There are a plethora of choices for good cashmere and sweet price points, HINT…Rue la la, Gilt, Neimans. These beauties are just about half off and are 100% cashmere. Wrap in a fancy box and pretty tissue paper to make it feel extra special.

8. Diptyque Coffret-Limited Edition-2.4 oz., $84 for set of three candles.

Last but certainly not least, candles – Diptyque, Cire Trudon, Astier de Villate, and  Rigaud candles are among my favorites. French candles can be a bit pricy, but this is the time of year for a special treat or two to make you feel fabulous for the new year. This limited-edition holiday set comes with three candles, so stretch out the enjoyment and use one at a time or place in different rooms to add a touch of Paris.

{Trend Hungry Tuesday} The Giving Keys

harry styles giving keys

If you’re a Trend Hungry regular, then The Giving Keys may sound familiar. That’s because since finding out about them I’ve been a little obsessed and featured them in a gift guide and a TV segment. And this week I thought they’d be a fabulous fit for Trend Hungry Tuesday, aka the weekly radio segment where I dish about celebrity trends for less on The Ralphie Show. That’s because these keys are fashionable, affordable, and have a celebrity following. Oh, plus the concept is pretty cool too.

celebrities and the giving keys

Okay, down to biz.

Who: Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Ryan Gosling.

What: recycled keys turned into jewelry with a word on each piece of jewelry, such as “Hope”, “Dream,” or “Create”. Prices start at $35.

When: Order by Dec. 18th to get your key for Christmas.

Where: lots of boutiques, or online at thegivingkeys.com.

Why: The Giving Keys exist to employ those transitioning out of homelessness. Wear a key and when then gift it forward to someone when you feel they need the message more.

{Dare to Wear} Vintage Accessories for the Holidays

Happy holidays! Start planning your party looks, as this is the season of celebratory style. As a budget-fashion blogger, I know that all it takes to create a lust-worthy look is a little planning and creativity – not dropping serious cash or even shopping!

When it came time for my most recent Dare to Wear photoshoot I was low on time to shop and style. Even though I style people all the time and am always checking out new merch,  I don’t always make the time to buy for me or even style looks in advance. I know, excuses excuses. But that’s why I tend to buy pieces that are versatile. Then I can change up vibe quick and can run out of my apartment with my outfit incomplete and accessorize on the go, perhaps with vintage accessories?

philadelphia-fashion-blogger-2 Stylist Tip: Have a makeup bag with some jewelry options in your handbag. You never know when you’ll need to swap out a scarf for a statement necklace.

philadelphia-fashion-blogger-3 Sometimes my favorite outfits are created by being in a rush and throwing things together. That’s how this one happened. I got this Forever 21 maxi at the end of summer and knew it would be one of those pieces I can wear many different ways and would be a go-to style for those days I just don’t have time to think.

Vintage Accessories

For this look, the tee-shirt dress takes a chic approach and is paired with a vintage gold belt (scored for maybe $3 a few years ago). To keep cozy and add a little glam, a vintage fur shawl makes for the perfect outer layer (paid around $25 for it, thanks to haggling with a few little old ladies).  philadelphia-fashion-blogger-5

The booties are Shutz. I got them at a gifting suite last year and though they are a little pricier than the items I typically feature, they’re worth it if you’re looking for a little splurge – so comfy & they get tons of compliments! philadelphia-fashion-blogger-6

DARE TO WEAR: a blog series dedicated to “dare to wear” the same thing three weeks in a row. If you’re gonna buy it, you better be able to wear it at least three ways, right? Each month a new item is featured and will be styled three ways over three weeks. Photos by Audrey Gallagher.

So yay for this outfit or nay? Give your input in the comments below! Don’t forget to check back next week and see look #2 for this simple-chic maxi dress.

{Trend Hungry Tuesday} How to Style Turtlenecks

selena gomez- turtleneck

Turtlenecks have been on our must-shop list for more than a minute. This style I once donned in snowman print, penguins, hearts, and leaves (I owned different ones to match the holiday  – #embarrassing!) feels kinda 90’s, and a slew of celebrities are bringing the turtleneck back to the fashion forefront.

Though the turtleneck never really left, it’s now looking cooler than ever thanks to some A-listers and their stylists. Celebrities spotted in turtlenecks include Jennifer LopezNicole RichieSelena GomezKim KardashianKylie Jenner, and Rihanna.

selena gomez- turtleneck {image source}

There are many, many more stars who’ve rocked the high neck, one of which is Britney Spears. She’s sported tight-hugging turtlenecks since the beginning of her career and MTVStyle just honored her 32nd birthday with this Britney Spears turtleneck GIF .

There are a ton of turtleneck styles – long sleeve, short, cutout sleeve, sleeveless, cropped, sheer …. the possibilities are endless.

Looking to try this trend on a budget? Of course you are!

Here’s a few style suggestions…

How to style a cropped turtleneck.

With a high-waisted skirt. Kim Kardashian has been owning this style and it shows a pinch of skin, just enough to add a little drama and edge to your ensemble. Less is more and this is under $10!

But this one is more versatile and can work any season.

How to style a classic turtleneck.

Anyway. Seriously. Tuck it in. Wear with jeans, a skirt, with overalls, you kinda can’t mess this up.

How to style a sleeveless turtleneck.

Sleek. this baby show your arms and clings to the chest. Add a little refinement to leather pants by pair with this top. This style looks extra sharp when tucked in.
Looking for more? All of these are under $25!
