Are you so ready to skip the rest of winter and go straight to spring? There’s still some very cold days ahead where I am on the East Coast, but that doesn’t mean spring styles have to wait. Don’t go busting out bare legs yet, unless you’re lucky enough to be in a warm climate ( so jealous!), but do start sprinkling in springtime styles into your winter wardrobe. Here are my top four trends for spring that you can start wearing right away. Cause who can wait, right?!
Hey, it was just Valentine’s Day. Did you treat yourself to anything? The greatest relationship is with yourself so don’t forget to show yourself some love and if it’s on sale, even better.
One of my favorite trends for spring is colored leather. It’s going to be BIG. It was on the runways and is already popping up in stores. Real or faux, whatever way you decide to go, color is in. Personally I’m loving pastel hues. It looks so fresh with the all-black outfits I’ve been gravitating towards lately and pastels have a way of going with so much.
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I’m getting in the season of love with a little pink, red, and love-themed jewelry. This light shade of pink on the blouse is one of my favorite colors and reminds me of delicate beauty — think ballet slippers or a baby’s room. Now that I think of it, this is the color of my room back at my parent’s house. No wonder I’m so drawn to it.
Want to rock a Grammy fashion trend this Valentine’s Day? Here’s one to try that’s subtly sexy. It’s called peekaboo chic and it’s a playful way to show some skin. It’s also a trend that a whole lot of famous fashionistas rocked on the red carpet in different ways.
Miley Cyrus, Iggy Azalea, and Ariana Grande all donned dresses with cutouts a the 57th Annual Grammy Awards. Here’s a picture Miley Instagrammed of her and Katy Perry, who is also playing up with peekaboo trend. Her embellished dress has a subtle sheerness to it, making it sexy without showing too much.
The 57th Annual Grammy Awards, aka the biggest night in music, had some highs and lows in the fashion front. Fox29′s Good Day Philadelphia invited me to be a part of their style panel and weigh in on the most talked about looks of the night. Here’s who won and lost in my style book.
When the Philadelphia Inquirer fashion columnist asks you to speak to her Fashion Journalism class you say when. And that’s what happened. The lovely Elizabeth Wellington asked me to come talk to her students at Philadelphia University about fashion blogging. It was such an honor to share my story, lessons learned, and explain how starting this blog changed my life (for real, it really did, and I’m SO grateful for it!!). I spoke from the heart and the top of my head while students tweeted some of my dream-chasing nuggets. Read a few below and check out this Ellen-style selfie we took.
It’s the first outfit post of February 2015 and in true February fashion, the item of repeat is one I fell in love with at first sight. It’s this Topshop vest and I love it for the clean lines, understated chicness and because it will elevate so many outfits, as I’ll be demonstrating throughout the month.
The term athleisure has been floating around the fashion world for a little while now. It’s fashionable activewear also meant for street style. Think printed yoga pants, varsity jackets, jerseys and more. It’s a growing category and brands are launching new lines and collections in this space. Heck, athleisure even hurt the sales for jeans.
There may be six more weeks of winter according to Punxsutawney Phil, but that shouldn’t stop you from springy shades. The color I’m currently craving is ultra-light pink, think ballet slippers or blush. Over the weekend I spotted a pair of jeans in the hue, then I wore a piece in the light and lovely color yesterday while shooting upcoming photos for this month’s Dare To Wear posts (disclosure: I usually take my all outfit pics for the month at once). Plus Valentine’s Day is right around the corner so this color is quite fitting to start wearing now to start transitioning into spring.
It’s not every day we remix our wardrobes. Wait, yeah it is. That’s pretty much what getting dressed is. This month one quilted sweatshirt from Target took on three different looks (and many more that just weren’t documented). Styled with a mini skirt or layered over a Canadian tuxedo, the sweatshirt added warmth and a little athleisure to each look. Here’s the images to prove it.
