One good thing after another! I was so excited to work with InStyle magazine on their InStyle Essentials Perfect Fit tour when they came to my neighborhood not too long ago. And now, I’m talking about my job on their blog. Pinch me. This year has been the craziest ever, ever so far and none of it would be possible without the blog (which turned 3 this October – I know, we should have celebrated, but we will when the redesign launches – shhh!). But seriously, I’m so grateful that my passion has become my job – surreal and fuels me to keep working harder.
Last Wednesday I trekked to NYC for a fashion-filled day at the end of NYFW. I got to go backstage and find out about all the beauty trends strutting down the runway straight from the hair, makeup, and manicure masters themselves! The Trend Hungry NYFW backstage interviews will be up later this week! I seriously cannot wait to share with you, but for now backstage pics will have to do.
1. Daisy Fuentes
I got to talk to the head of Maybelline Japan & the lead nail artist for the day. You will LOVE what Daisy went with for her model’s beauty style. Plus, all the products used fro makeup and nails are uber budget friendly. We also go a sneak peek at a new Maybelline product that comes out this November (hint: it’s pictured!!). We’ll give you more details this week!
My friend Courtney stepped in as camera woman for the day.
Polish II. The models wore it and it’s only $4 a bottle! My friend Rose from the brand invited me backstage - thanks Rose!
The avant-garde designer behind luxe accessories line was a dream to talk to. His pieces have been donned by Lady GaGa, Madonna, Nicki Minaj, Rita Ora and many more. Can you see why the celebs love his pieces?
Pink makeup to match the accessories. You like?
Celebrity hairstylist Edward Tricomi was there for hair and gave details on healthy hair at home. Video interview will be up later this week!
3. Spanx Press Preview
I absolutely love this brand. I got to interview the founder Sara Blakely this past winter when Spanx invited me to their grand opening press event at King of Prussia Mall. While in NYC I swung by their popup showroom to see what’s new with Spanx … and there’s quite a lot. Shapewear pants – yes please!
4. T. Tandon
This event was at the Empire hotel, as was the Spanx event. Even Joan Rivers and the Fashion Police team were at the Empire. This brand may not be considered budget friendly, but we can certainly take inspiration for spring 2014 from this tea-party chic style.
5. DBA Gifting Suite
I love finding out about the newest in fashion and beauty (obviously!) so I can’t wait to put my new goodies from the #DBALovingThis Suite to the test.
Ever since I was a little girl I’ve worshipped glossy pages. It started as a wanting to be like my mom so I’d flip through Family Circle and say what pictures I liked. As I turned into a middle schooler I would flip to the back of Teen Magazine to read the “Most Mortifying Moments” with my friends in the school’s library. Then I started reading for the love of the witty writing and and ended up landing an internship at Philadelphia Magazine my senior year of college.
Seeing as I’m quite fond of magazines, collaborating with Philly Current on their fall fashion issue was a dream come true. Once they asked for me to be a guest contributor they then gave me the reigns to work my budget-fashion magic. So I picked four of the hottest trends for fall and 2013 and created looks on a budget, of course! Unlike when I style for TV, this time the model I was dressing was me, which made it way easier for sizing.
Last week I visited the CWPhilly with the King of Prussia Mall to talk trends and tips for shopping back to school fashions. The lovely models and I showcased three of the season’s top styles and for different age ages.

Oh Happy Day! Last week I played hostess with the mostest at The Body Shop’s Grand Opening at The King of Prussia Mall. And let me tell you, we had a blast! It was a packed house with free makeovers and giveaways every 30 minutes – obviously the perfect pairing for a stellar time! I got to meet lots of my readers (love you guys!!), award fabulous prizes to our lucky winners, and hang out with lots of lovely ladies using The Body Shop’s gorgeous space as our beauty playground. A day with the girls to play with makeup and get beautified? Um, yes please!
We snacked on cookies and Vita Coco and my new favorite, Coco Cafe (you gotta try it!). And don’t let me forget about the giveaways, because guess what! They continued after the event so special congrats to Susan Hoffman, Denise Hartman, Lakisha Harvey, Sylvia Sahwell.
Check out some of the pics from our fabulous time!
Special Thank You to everyone that came out!! You made our event a total success and I had a blast with all of you! Your support means so much!!
HUGE THANK YOU to The Body Shop & the whole team that made this event possible. There was a lot of positive people that worked hard to make this happen and I’m thrilled that I got to be part of it. THANK YOU!!!!!!
This trend-a-holic is a tired trend-a-holic. I’ve been crazy busy lately with lots of exciting stuff. This morning I did two fashion segments with FOX29 in Philly (will post clips soon!). On Saturday I hosted The Body Shop’s Grand Opening at King of Prussia Mall (such a blast, see for yourself on Instagram!). And last week, I was on The Better Show where I showed how to style spring trends for the cool temps!
So without further adieu here’s how to wear top spring styles right now!
Merry Christmas! This post is a little late due to some technical difficulties, but it’s better late than never. Aside from crying for an hour (I don’t deal well with technical difficulties) I had a fabulous holiday! I got to visit my parents. We had a white Christmas. My mom made my favorite meal - chicken parm, hers is seriously the best ever! And my family had a dance party in the kitchen with my boyfriend bringing the best moves, some Justin Timberlake-esque spins and fancy footwork. Continue Reading
