Four Spring Trends To Wear Right Now

Are you so ready to skip the rest of winter and go straight to spring? There’s still some very cold days ahead where I am on the East Coast, but that doesn’t mean spring styles have to wait. Don’t go busting out bare legs yet, unless you’re lucky enough to be in a warm climate ( so jealous!), but do start sprinkling in springtime styles into your winter wardrobe. Here are my top four trends for spring that you can start wearing right away. Cause who can wait, right?! Continue Reading

{ Hair DO } Reese Witherspoon’s Low Ponytail

When it comes to hair, often the most complementary styles are nearly effortless. Case and point, Reese Witherspoon‘s low ponytail at the 21st annual Screen Actors Guild Awards.  It works just as well on long bob as it does on really-long locks and only takes a few minutes to master.

Truth: I typically don’t think of a ponytail when I think of the red carpet, but you know what? It’s very clean, chic, and allows the person’s beauty to be the real focal point. Emma Stone also opted for the simple style with her short ‘do.

Ready to wear this red-carpet hairstyle in real life? Here’s how to achieve the look.

{Gift Guide} Stocking Stuffers Under $30

Get ready to get gifting. I’ve scoured the internet for some of my personal present picks to recommend. These items make great girlfriend gifts, nothing is over $30, and they’re small enough to fit in a stocking. The prices get lower as you scroll. Treat yourself, someone on your list, or simply share this link so others will know what to get you without breaking the bank.

{ Back Me Up Mobile Charger, $30.00} Everything sells I instantly fall in love with based on the cute factor alone. For a split second I want everything and then catch my breath. This charger though, it’s fashion and function. My iPhone is always going dead and a charger with some character would be worth remembering to keep in tow.

{Dogeared Midi Love Sparkle Ring, $22.00} Let this sterling silver ring be a little reminder to the recipient that love is at their fingertips. Prefer gold? For $2 more there’s a version that’s dipped in 14 karat gold.

{The Body Shop Mini Brush Set, $19.00} Most of my makeup brushes are from The Body Shop. They hold up well and don’t shed like most brushes. They’re also cruelty free and this set is small enough to throw in your bag for primping on the go.

{Blinc Mascara Duo, $18.00} I got turned on to Blinc after asking one of the experts at Sephora for mascara that won’t flake and leave me with dark circles. Blinc’s formula tubes each lash and stays put better than many mascaras. The travel size is under $20 and comes with the primer so that product will work its best.

{Essie 2014 Holiday Kit, $15.00} This kit includes five mini nail polishes in Essie’s 2014 holiday shades. As reads, there’s “Mademoiselle (the most classic grown-up pink), Smokin’ Hot (stone-cold fox gray) Butler Please (indulgent bright blue) Bahama Mama (warm, rich, creamy deep plum), and Jazzy Jubilant (chromatic confetti-like glitter.”

{Charmsies Iron-In Star Shaped Hair Charms, $12.00} I’ve never seen a hair accessory quite like Charmsies. Simply use your flat iron to design the design to your hair.  Expect lots of compliments. They look so cool on and people take notice.  My friends at Nich Boutique carry them as does Nordstrom.

{Bite Beauty Mix N’ Mingle Lip Minis, $12.00} After reading all the rave reviews I may have to treat myself to this gift too. Color is long lasting and product won’t dry out that pretty pout.

{Head Massager, $6.00} Some people absolutely LOVE these things. I am not one of those people but I can name a few people that I know would love to receive this and you may too.

Hey Girl, What’s Your Fragrance?

The sense of smell is a powerful thing. A scent may remind you of someone or perhaps capture the attention of another. It’s also linked to memory and can bring you back to a certain time or special moment. The right fragrance, much like the perfect outfit, can even make you feel pretty or sexy when you put it on.

The sensual scent I’m spritzing these days is Viva La Juicy Gold Couture. It’s a decadent rendition of one perfume I used to be obsessed with, Viva La Juicy. If you were a Viva La Juicy fan then you’ll love this one as much as me.

The aroma starts fruity and sweet thanks to the notes of luscious wild berries, and then really entices with a warm kiss of honeysuckle and a luxurious elixir of golden amber, melted caramel, and vanilla. How yummy does that sound? It smells even more divine and you can really pick up on all those fragrant notes. The warm caramel makes me want to keep on spraying. I wish I could spritz some right now for you to smell, but the blog isn’t capable of that just yet.

Instead you can take a whiff of Viva La Juicy Gold Couture for yourself at Ulta. It’s truly captivating and is the icing on the cake to any outfit.

{DIY} Eight Easy Steps To The Perfect At-Home Manicure

The one thing I’d much rather do myself than pay for, among others, is doing my nails. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a total treat to get a mani/pedi, but I seriously love polishing my nails. It’s my hobby. I do it when I watch TV, feel artsy, whenever. I even ask friends if they’d like me to do their nails. What I’ve learned in giving manis to my ladies is that a lot of females do not know how to properly give themselves a manicure. If you, too, have been living your life lacking nail polish skills,  you are in luck! Here are eight super-simple steps to the perfect, easy at-home manicure.

  1. Starting with clean nails, soak hands in warm water for five minutes to soften cuticles. Add a little soap or a few drops of an essential oil to make it extra luxurious.
  2. Lotion hands and push back cuticles.
  3. Gently file nails, making sure to stroke in the same direction. Filing nails back and forth causes nails to split and break, so stick to filing one way.
  4. Wipe lotion from nail bed using a cotton ball or tissue.

  1. Apply base coat.
  2. Apply one coat of  your nail color of choice.
  3. Let nails dry before applying a second coat to avoid smudging, then repeat. The less strokes the better. Three swipes of polish per coat is the magic number.
  4. Once dry, seal with top coat. This topcoat, Seche Vite is my personal favorite and my pro-nail friend Rose of Doorbella got me hooked on. She does nails at New York Fashion Week, so what she recommends is the real deal. A good topcoat is what sets a good manicure apart from one that looks, well, not quite as polished.

For this week’s manicure I’m wearing Mineral Fusion nail lacquer in Grotto. It’s one of my favorite shades right now, so highly recommend it.

1. {Sally Hansen Salon Effectst}  they’re easy to apply, require no dry time, and look far more intricate than any free-hand design. The design pictured glow in the dark!

2. {Skull Nail Stickers} the skulls are so cute that you probably wear when ever, but they’re especially fitting for the Halloween season. Apply to polished nails then add a clear topcoat to seal the deal.

3. {imPress-On Nails} press-on nails have done a long way. It looks like you went and got a fresh manicure when all you did was stick some fake nails on top of your own. Quick, easy, and great for the lazy glam girl.
