{ Nailed It } CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish

Skip the basecoat and try polish that actually gets stronger as time goes on. Ever since CND sent me six of their fabulous shades of CND VINYLUX Weekly Polish it’s been the only nail polish I’ve been opting for, saving me on time and trips to the salon, though I’m more of DIYer when it comes to my nails.

The shades go on beautifully (no fancy skills necessary) and dry with a shiny finish. I’ve been skipping a topcoat and have been loving the results but see their site recommends using one. More importantly, the results hold up. Activated by exposure to natural light, the polish becomes more durable. The results, fabulous nails that last all week.

CND VINYLUX Nail Polish

I love it for my busy lifestyle because it takes little time do since the polish goes on so nicely to and holds up through the week. I’ve worn all the shades and think I’m partial to the light purple or the blue pictured on the right that I’m rocking currently my fingers and toes.

These sweet shades are from VINYLUX’s Garden Muse Collection. The names are pretty too. There’s Beckoning Begonia, Crushed Rose, Wisteria Haze, Lost Labyrinth, Reflecting Pool, and  Butterfly Queen.

Each bottle of polish is around $10 at a salon or drugstore (cheaper on Amazon.com) and are 3-free, so there’s no Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP in the formula.

CND VINYLUX Weekly Nail Polish

I’m seriously considering buying a collection every season and sticking to this for my weekly at-home mani/pedis. Let’s see what colors come out next.

Have you tried CND VINYLUX? If so, did you like? Or know of a nail polish I should know about? Comment below or tells chat on Instagram!

{ Take note: Post not sponsored by CND,  just LOVING the product + wanted to share. Polishes were gifted. }

{ Trend Hungry Tuesday } White + Gold

It’s summer and celebs were sizzling in white + gold at the BET Awards over the weekend, and some even opted to match!

Laverne Cox & Gabrielle Union wore matching white gowns with slits by Halston Heritage styled with gold belts and shoes on the BET Award stage.

Also matching at the award show were gal pals Amber Rose & Blac Chyna. They each wore white suits with bustier tops and gold jewelry.

Janet Jackson was honored at the event and she wore white for the occasion, sporting a jumpsuit with gold-zipper details. Clearly this color combo is a hit for summer. It’s fresh, chic, and can be dressy or casual depending on how you style it.

Pair something white in your closet with gold accessories or try a shoe or bag that’s got both white + gold in the mix, like these cute shoes Kylie Jenner Instagrammed.

Lulus.com has cute white purses with gold hardware. Then you can wear this trend with whatever outfit you want. A white bag always looks fresh and the gold hardware adds a level of luxe.

{ Dare To Wear } Kimono + Double Denim

Like my kimono? It’s from one of my favorite people. My dear friend Kristen sent it to me all the way from Hawaii. Though she and I don’t like close to each other anymore (she’s based in LA but lived a few months in Hawaii earlier this year), but we still manage to swap clothes when we do get together, though this one was meant for me to keep. It came in the mail along with a cool coral necklace she made me, a bottle of black sand, a hair product made by a friend she met while living there, and of course a thoughtful note — she’s the cutest + I absolutely LOVED the care package she sent me!! So when I wear this kimono I think of my boho babe, Kristen.

Hippie Chic Style

As you may have noticed, the item on repeat this month are my shoes. I snagged them while collabing with Shoe Carnival and I cannot tell you how many compliments I’ve received on them! When I love something I tend to wear it on repeat, hence the whole purpose behind this Dare To Wear column. So these shoes I clearly love and they also happen to go with so much. It’s insane how much I like them with nearly any outfit. They may even make a cameo in an outfit post next month ;)  so stay tuned!

Okay, now to the part you came here for. Keep scrolling for more outfit pics, style tips + shopping links.

{ Style Tips }

1. Break up double denim with a bold print. The kimono has color, print, fringe and flowiness, so the denim backdrop keeps it casual and not too busy.

2. Roll up your sleeves. I’ve got a thing for chambray. I own at least three different denim tops in various washes (and am on the market for a new on this season). They are so versatile and look great open, buttoned, layered, tucked, tied, whatever. To work best with the kimono I choose to cuff the sleeves to rest close to where the kimono sleeves hit. I used this style trick a few months ago in different double-denim look (I said I had a think for it).

3. Block heels + shorts =  elevated outfit. It depends on the shoe, but a sandal with a block heel can totally work with shorts. The only way to know if it suits you is to try.

{ Five Things Wellness } Aromatherapy Benefits

Happy summer! It feels like I’ve been waiting forever for sunshine. I love everything about summer — the fresh seasonal fruits, laid-back fashions, and the warm weather of course. Now that bikini season is in full swing, I’ve been trying to eat healthier and even kicked my workouts up a notch. I know, I know. Sounds like such a bore, right?!

Well, being healthy doesn’t have to be boring. Balance is key  you can still live healthy while enjoying all the amazing things in life.

Here are Five Things Wellness to help guide you to a healthy and balanced lifestyle .

Wellness blog post

1. Red Flower’s Little Flower Candles

The benefits of aromatherapy are vast and vary by your fragrance choice.  Relaxation, stress relief, sleep, and happiness  can all be aided thanks to a lovely scent. Red Flower’s Little Flower Candles are small, so you can pack them in your bag easily. I like lighting candles that have essential oils to unwind after a crazy day. A few of my favorites include French Lavendar for a calming effect, Indian Jasmine to relieve stress, and Moroccan Rose to ignite a sense of calming balance.

2. H&M Conscious Collection

The H&M Conscious Collection offers up sustainable style. The eco-chic fashion line is made of organic, recycled, or other sustainable materials. The are styles for ladiesmenkids, and the home. Prices are pretty affordable, though they do a have a few luxe styles that ring up in the triple digits. The pleated dress pictured is under $70 & made from recycled polyester, so it’s good for the earth and your wallet.

3. DIY Yoga Mat Cleaner

When was the last time you cleaned your yoga mat? I used to use lysol wipes, but now that I think of it, throwing away that many wipes is not so eco-friendly. I’ve been searching for a bunch of DIY Yoga Mat Cleaners and created my own concoction using three simple and green ingredients. Just spray and wipe off with a towel. Click to see how to create your own DIY Yoga Mat Cleaner for yourself.

4. Yerba Mate

Yerba Mate is soooo delish! It has the “strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate.” How can something be so great? Yerba Mate is made from leaves from a South American rainforest tree. It has caffeine, theophylline, and theobromine – all stimulants found in tea, coffee, and chocolate. I like prepping my cup of Yerba Mate in a French press and I mix in a little coconut milk. My go-to Yerba Mate brand is Guayaki – it’s certified organic, certified fair trade, and his packaged sustainably.

5. St. Ive’s Green Tea Scrub

There are so many benefits to green tea and I’m so obsessed. I spotted St. Ive’s Green Tea Scrub at the drugstore so had to try it. This exfoliant is made of green tea, olive oil, olive leaf extract, and silica (sand). It’s a 100% naturally-derived exfoliant, free of parabens and sulfate. It’s meant for the face and has blemish-clearing powers, but I also like using it on my arms and legs for a little body exfoliation.

{ Trend Hungry Tuesday } One-Piece Swimsuits

One-piece bathing suits are back, not that they ever really left. Kylie Jenner matched her sister Kendall and a friend poolside, all rocking the same white-and-pink swimsuit that apparently their friend Lauren had first. Turns out it’s from the Beverly Hills Hotel and of course there’s only a two-piece style available for purchase right now, and it’s close to $300. Continue Reading

{ Dare To Wear } Green, White + Print All Over

Working on blog posts sure does help me in the outfit department. This Dare To Wear blog series challenges me to remix my style pairings and create more looks. The result, more outfit ideas at my fingertips for those busy days that leave little time for picking the perfect ensemble.

You may notice that this jumpsuit is Lilly Pulitzer for Target. I stumbled upon it a few weeks after the collection old out when I was visiting Target for organic chips and salsa (the pineapple salsa is SO good!). The jumpsuit fit and came home with me. Since then I’ve worn it to a luncheon, TV segment, and hanging around. I think with the vest is how I like it best. Continue Reading
